Understand Pandero
Useful when…
- Use normal fire for single hits with the listed 30% critical chance and 2.8× critical multiplier.
- Use the faster alternate fire when you want a rapid volley; Octavia alone receives the described reload-speed benefit from alternate-fire headshot kills.
Normal fire and alternate fire
Both listed attacks are hitscan and deal the same 18 Impact, 18 Puncture, and 36 Slash damage per attack. Normal fire is listed at 3 attacks per second; alternate fire is faster at 4.17. Both modes list a 30% critical chance, 2.8× critical multiplier, and 10% status chance. The data describes alternate fire as a rapid volley, but does not specify its number of shots per input, so do not infer a particular burst size.
Magazine, reload, and character condition
The Pandero has an 8-round magazine and a 1-second reload. Its description specifies that headshot kills with alternate fire increase Reload Speed when wielded by Octavia. Do not apply that effect to other wielders or to ordinary fire. At Mastery requirement 8, it has a listed 20,000-credit build price and 12-hour build time, with the blueprint and materials listed separately.
Choosing a different firing pattern
Kuva Kraken’s description highlights three quick shots per trigger pull and an alternate-fire magazine burst. Tenet Spirex instead has rail-slugs and a headshot-related reload effect. Velox is described as a high-fire-rate sidearm that reloads rapidly when emptied, with increased ammo efficiency for Protea. These are different handling or character conditions; the listed descriptions do not establish a direct replacement for the Pandero.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The faster alternate-fire mode can deliver attacks more quickly, but the 8-round magazine still requires frequent attention.
- The reload-speed effect has a specific condition: Octavia must wield the weapon and score headshot kills with alternate fire.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the reload-speed effect applies to every wielder or to normal fire.
- Treating the two attack modes as different damage types or assuming an unspecified alternate-fire shot count.
