Understand Velox Prime
Useful when…
- Sustained automatic hitscan fire with a large magazine.
- Status-oriented use that can take advantage of its listed 32% status chance.
- A secondary pistol option when its magazine size and listed handling suit the encounter.
Attack profile
Velox Prime has one listed mode: automatic hitscan fire at 17 shots per second. Each shot deals 27 damage, split into 6.48 Impact, 7.56 Puncture, and 12.96 Slash. It lists 14% critical chance, a 2× critical multiplier, and 32% status chance. These are the listed shot properties; they do not by themselves establish final damage from a particular build.
Magazine, reload, and modding
The magazine holds 70 rounds and the listed reload time is 2.6 seconds. At 17 shots per second, sustained firing can empty the magazine quickly, so reload timing is a practical consideration. Two Madurai and one Naramon polarities are listed; these can inform mod-slot planning when you have compatible mods, but do not determine a best build on their own.
Rank and alternatives
Velox Prime requires Mastery Rank 13. Cyanex offers a different described firing behavior: ricocheting homing projectiles that release small Gas clouds on impact, plus an alt-fire that releases the magazine as a non-homing burst. Epitaph Prime is a wrist-mounted sidearm whose description specifies an additional headshot bonus when wielded by Sevagoth Prime. These are distinct options, not direct performance comparisons.
Common mistakes
Do not assume the standard Velox’s described rapid reload when emptied or Protea’s increased ammo efficiency applies to Velox Prime; those details are given for the standard model only. Also avoid treating 32% status chance as critical chance: the Prime lists 14% critical chance and 32% status chance separately.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Its 17 shots per second can consume the 70-round magazine quickly.
- It lists 14% critical chance alongside 32% status chance.
- The standard Velox’s special reload and Protea ammo-efficiency details are not established for the Prime.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the standard Velox’s rapid empty-magazine reload or Protea ammo-efficiency feature applies to Velox Prime.
- Confusing status chance with critical chance.
