Understand Cyanex
Useful when…
- Hit moving or clustered targets with normal homing projectiles.
- Choose the alternate burst when you want to expend the magazine quickly without homing.
Normal fire and alternate fire
Normal fire is automatic at about 4.67 shots per second. Its projectile impact lists 50 Impact damage, while a separate Gas AoE attack lists 41 Gas damage with falloff beginning at zero and ending at 0.7. Both attack entries show 8% critical chance, a 1.4× critical multiplier, and 32% status chance. Alternate fire releases the whole magazine as one burst of non-homing projectiles; its listed damage components are Impact, Slash, and Puncture. Keep these attack modes distinct when assessing the weapon.
Handling and investment
The normal projectile has a listed speed of 24 and accuracy is 1.82, so the homing behavior is relevant to its practical handling. The magazine holds 11 rounds and reloads in 2.2 seconds. Its 32% status chance and Gas damage can support status-oriented use, while its starting critical chance and multiplier are comparatively modest. It requires Mastery rank 8 and has a rank cap of 30; listed construction requirements include a Forma, concentrated gas, and other components.
When another pistol fits better
Cyanex is distinctive when homing normal fire or the full-magazine alternate burst is useful. The Kuva Kraken instead fires three quick shots per trigger pull and can burst the remaining magazine; the standard Kraken fires two quick shots per pull. Kuva Seer is described as having superior zoom and a small Corrosive burst. These are alternatives with their own handling traits, not automatic upgrades to Cyanex.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Homing normal projectiles help with target tracking, but listed accuracy is very low.
- Alternate fire is non-homing and consumes the magazine as a burst.
- Low listed critical chance and multiplier favor considering other upgrade priorities.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating the normal Gas AoE and alternate burst as one attack.
- Assuming alternate fire homes; it is explicitly described as non-homing.
- Ignoring the magazine cost of the full-magazine burst.
