Understand Expel Grineer
Useful when…
- Preparing a pistol for a Grineer-focused mission.
- Using a Madurai-polarity pistol build with capacity for a conditional damage mod.
Effect and fit
At rank 0, the mod gives x1.05 damage to Grineer; at rank 3, x1.2; and at its maximum rank of 5, x1.3. It is a standard pistol mod with Madurai polarity and base drain 4. It cannot be equipped alongside Flawed Expel Grineer or Primed Expel Grineer.
When to use it
The bonus is specific to Grineer, so it is most relevant when the mission’s enemies are known and the pistol is part of your damage plan. It does not provide the listed faction bonus against other enemies. Accelerated Isotope instead lists Radiation damage and fire rate, making it a separate option for a different set of weapon stats.
Rank investment
The mod’s rank range is 0 to 5. Listed examples cost 20 Endo and 966 Credits for rank 0 to 1, 80 Endo and 3,864 Credits for rank 2 to 3, and 320 Endo and 15,456 Credits for rank 4 to 5. Later ranks cost more, so weigh the higher listed faction bonus against how frequently you use the mod and the capacity available in your pistol build. The mod’s bonus is not a statement of final weapon damage.
Variants and acquisition
Flawed Expel Grineer lists x1.1 damage to Grineer, maximum rank 3, and base drain 2. Primed Expel Grineer lists x1.55, maximum rank 10, and base drain 4. These are alternatives, not additions. Listed sources for the standard mod include Bombards, Heavy Gunners, Demolisher units, Manics, and specified Duviri Endless tiers.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The bonus is limited to Grineer enemies.
- Ranking the mod further requires increasingly costly Endo and Credits.
- The Flawed, standard, and Primed variants cannot be equipped together.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Using the faction bonus as though it applied to every enemy.
- Treating x1.3 as the pistol’s final damage in all circumstances.
- Trying to equip the mod with its Flawed or Primed variant.
