Understand Guardian
Useful when…
- Adding a shield boost that triggers when the owner's shields run out.
- Using a low-rank version when capacity is limited, then increasing the trigger's listed boost as resources allow.
Trigger and effect
Guardian activates when its owner's shield runs out. The listed boost rises with rank: 58% at rank 0, 83% at rank 3, and 100% at rank 5. Its description does not specify a duration, cooldown, or other trigger condition, so those should not be assumed. It is a standard Robotic mod with Penjaga polarity, base drain 2, and maximum rank 5.
Rank and capacity
The listed fusion costs scale by rank. The first step, rank 0 to 1, costs 10 Endo and 483 Credits; rank 2 to 3 costs 40 Endo and 1,932 Credits; and rank 4 to 5 costs 160 Endo and 7,728 Credits. Rank 3 already lists an 83% boost, while the final two ranks increase that to 100%. Since Guardian has base drain 2 and Penjaga polarity, consider the higher ranks against the capacity available for the sentinel's other robotic mods.
Choosing among robotic effects
The listed alternatives do different jobs. Sanctuary creates a shield around the player while reviving fallen allies; Anti-Grav Array increases the owner's jump height; and Coolant Leak releases a radial Cold blast when multiple enemies are nearby, with a 10-second cooldown. These are not replacements for Guardian's shield-depletion trigger. Choose among them according to whether the desired benefit is revive protection, mobility, crowd control, or a shield boost for the mod's owner.
Acquisition
The listed sources are Nox, Orokin Drone, and Orokin Spectator.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Guardian only triggers when the owner's shield runs out; it is not described as a continuously active shield bonus.
- Higher ranks increase the listed boost but require progressively greater fusion costs.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating Guardian as a constant shield increase instead of a trigger that activates when shields run out.
- Equipping it for revive protection or a nearby-enemy Cold blast; those effects belong to different listed mods.
