Understand Hypothermic Shell

Useful when…

  • Use on a compatible Archgun when you want its listed Cold and status-chance bonuses.
  • Compare it with the other elemental status mods when choosing between Cold, Electricity, Toxin, or Heat.

What does it change?

At max rank, Hypothermic Shell gives +60% Cold and +60% status chance. At rank 0 it gives +15% to each, and rank 2 gives +45% to each. The effect adds listed bonuses; it does not state a final damage or status outcome for a particular weapon.

Weapon fit and elemental choices

It is a standard-slot Archgun mod with Madurai polarity and base drain 4. Charged Bullets, Contamination Casing, and Magma Chamber share the listed +60% elemental damage and +60% status chance at max rank, but supply Electricity, Toxin, and Heat respectively. Choose based on the element you need; these are not additional Cold bonuses.

Rank investment

The mod has three ranks. Listed upgrades cost 30, 60, then 120 Endo, alongside 1,449, 2,898, then 5,796 credits. Each step increases both the Cold and status-chance bonuses; rank according to the combined benefit you want from this slot.

Practical caveat

The listed acquisition records include Profit-Taker, Glacik Commander, and Fomorian Sabotage sources.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • Uses a standard Archgun slot and adds Cold specifically.
  • The elemental alternatives provide different elements, not extra versions of the Cold effect.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Assuming +60% status chance means a final proc chance of 60%.
  • Selecting it when the intended element is Electricity, Toxin, or Heat.
