Understand Narrow Minded
Useful when…
- Use it when ability duration is valuable and the affected abilities can tolerate a large range reduction.
- Consider stopping at a partial rank when the full duration increase is unnecessary or the range penalty is too severe.
What does it change?
Narrow Minded pairs +Ability Duration with -Ability Range. Rank 0 gives +9% duration and -6% range; rank 5 gives +54% duration and -36% range; rank 10 gives +99% duration and -66% range. Both values scale with rank, so added duration always comes with a larger range penalty.
Where can it fit?
It is a standard Warframe mod with Vazarin polarity and base drain 6. Its most suitable use depends on whether longer duration helps the abilities in a particular build and whether their reduced range remains acceptable. Augur Message offers +24% Ability Duration without a listed range penalty, but it provides much less duration than max-rank Narrow Minded. Archon Continuity and Archon Stretch have different listed effects and should not be treated as direct substitutes for this duration-and-range tradeoff.
How much should you invest?
The mod has ten ranks, and its duration and range effects both grow at each rank. The final 9-to-10 step costs 15,360 Endo and 741,888 Credits in the supplied fusion example. Partial ranking can preserve more range while still gaining duration; invest toward rank 10 only when the additional duration justifies both that cost and the larger range reduction.
What should you watch for?
The range penalty is substantial at higher ranks: max rank reduces Ability Range by 66%. Avoid ranking it automatically if the build depends on ability reach. Augur Message's smaller duration bonus has no range penalty listed, while Archon Stretch provides range rather than duration; these solve different needs.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Ranks add ability duration while also increasing the ability-range penalty.
- Max rank has a high stated final fusion cost.
- Augur Message offers less duration without a listed range penalty.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Ranking it to max without accounting for the -66% Ability Range penalty.
- Treating duration-only or range-only mods as equivalent to its paired stat tradeoff.
