Understand Photon Repeater
Useful when…
- Reduce the next Photon Strike’s Energy cost after a multi-enemy hit.
- Add two strikes to the next cast when the hit threshold is met.
Effect and threshold
If Photon Strike hits enough enemies, the next cast costs no Energy and fires two additional strikes. The threshold is 8 enemies at rank 0, 6 at rank 2, and 5 at rank 3. The requirement applies to the preceding Photon Strike hit; it does not say that every cast is free.
Ranking and fit
This standard Vauban mod has Zenurik polarity and base drain 6, and reaches rank 3. Each listed rank-up step costs 30, 60, then 120 Endo and 1,449, 2,898, then 5,796 Credits. Ranking makes the qualifying hit threshold easier to meet; consider the investment if that difference matters to how often Photon Strike hits groups.
Different Vauban augment roles
Enduring Bastille extends Bastille duration when an enemy is killed in Bastille and increases Vortex duration under its described stacking condition. Tesla Bank instead converts an enemy’s health when a Nervos first attaches into an Electricity burst on death. These affect different abilities and do not provide Photon Repeater’s conditional free next cast and extra strikes.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The benefit depends on Photon Strike hitting the rank-specific minimum number of enemies.
- Occupies a standard Vauban mod slot and has base drain 6.
- Ranking costs fusion resources.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the next cast is free without first meeting the hit threshold.
- Using the rank 3 threshold when the mod is at a lower rank.
- Expecting two additional strikes on the same cast that qualified the effect.
