Understand Primed Pistol Gambit
Useful when…
- Increasing critical chance for a pistol build that uses critical hits.
- Comparing the Primed bonus with Pistol Gambit or the critical-chance and fire-rate tradeoff of Creeping Bullseye.
Effect and fit
Primed Pistol Gambit grants +17% Critical Chance at rank 0, +102% at rank 5, and +187% at rank 10. It is a standard pistol mod with Madurai polarity, base drain 2, and maximum rank 10. These are mod bonuses, not a stated final critical chance for any particular pistol.
Fusion and capacity tradeoffs
The listed bonus rises with rank, while late fusion steps are expensive: the examples include 1,280 Endo and 61,824 Credits from rank 5 to 6, and 20,480 Endo and 989,184 Credits from rank 9 to 10. The base drain is 2, but the standard slot still competes with other pistol effects. Rank it according to the desired bonus and available capacity.
Alternatives and exclusions
Pistol Gambit is the standard counterpart, listed at +120% critical chance and maximum rank 5; Flawed Pistol Gambit reaches +60% at rank 3. Primed Pistol Gambit explicitly excludes both. Creeping Bullseye instead lists +200% critical chance and -20% Fire Rate, so its tradeoff differs; it also appears in Primed Pistol Gambit’s exclusions. These are alternatives, not effects to stack together.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The benefit depends on the pistol and build; the listed bonus alone does not establish final critical chance.
- Late fusion ranks are costly and use a standard mod slot.
- Creeping Bullseye includes a listed fire-rate penalty and is explicitly excluded.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating +187% as the pistol’s final critical chance.
- Combining it with Pistol Gambit, Flawed Pistol Gambit, or Creeping Bullseye despite the stated exclusions.
- Overlooking Creeping Bullseye’s listed -20% Fire Rate when considering it as an alternative.
