Understand Reach
Useful when…
- Extend reach for melee attacks when enemies are often just outside your comfortable attack distance.
- Use as a standard melee mod when range matters more to your setup than another available stat.
What does it change?
Reach grants +0.4 Range at rank 0, +1.5 at rank 3, and +2.3 at rank 5. It is a standard melee mod with Madurai polarity, base drain 4, and a maximum rank of 5. The listed value is a range bonus; the input does not define a specific attack-distance conversion or damage effect.
When should you use it?
Reach is useful when extending the distance at which melee attacks connect is valuable to your play. It does not increase critical damage, heavy attack wind-up speed, or Puncture damage. Amalgam Organ Shatter lists critical damage and heavy attack wind-up speed, while Auger Strike lists Puncture; those are distinct choices for builds prioritizing those effects.
How much should you rank it?
Each rank improves the range bonus, up to +2.3 at rank 5. The listed example cost rises from 10 Endo and 483 Credits for rank 0 to 1, to 160 Endo and 7,728 Credits from rank 4 to 5. Rank to the point where the added reach is useful enough to justify fusion resources and capacity. Its Madurai polarity can match a same-polarity slot; a mismatch affects capacity use.
Compatibility and alternative
Reach is for melee weapons and is explicitly incompatible with Primed Reach, so the two cannot be equipped together. Primed Reach is a separate comparison candidate with a listed +3 Range, maximum rank 10, and the same Madurai polarity; it is not an additional bonus to stack with Reach. Drop listings include multiple enemies and activities, but do not guarantee current availability.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Range occupies a standard melee slot that could provide a different stat.
- Higher ranks increase range but also require more fusion resources and capacity.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Equipping Reach alongside the explicitly incompatible Primed Reach.
- Assuming range bonus directly increases melee damage.
- Ranking it fully without considering capacity and the listed rise in fusion cost.
