Understand Rifle Aptitude
Useful when…
- Increase Status Chance on a rifle for a status-oriented setup.
- Compare a straightforward status chance bonus with Galvanized Aptitude’s conditional on-kill effect.
Effect and fit
Rifle Aptitude adds +15% Status Chance at rank 0, +60% at rank 3, and +90% at maximum rank 5. It is a standard Rifle mod with Vazarin polarity and base drain 4. The listed effect is Status Chance; it does not itself provide status damage or specify which status effects a weapon applies.
Ranking tradeoff
The mod reaches rank 5, and the listed rank 4 to 5 fusion step costs 320 Endo and 15,456 Credits. Ranking increases the bonus from +15% to +90%; invest according to how much Status Chance matters for the rifle and how much capacity you can allocate. Its base drain is 4, compared with base drain 2 for the Flawed mod and the listed Galvanized mod.
Alternatives and incompatibility
Flawed Rifle Aptitude offers up to +60% Status Chance at rank 3, while Galvanized Aptitude lists +80% and an on-kill bonus of +40% direct damage per status type affecting the target for 20 seconds, stacking up to two times. Rifle Aptitude explicitly cannot be equipped with either one. Aerial Ace is an exilus mod that refreshes double jump on kills while airborne; it is not a status chance substitute.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Ranking costs Endo and Credits for higher Status Chance and adds drain.
- It cannot be combined with Flawed Rifle Aptitude or Galvanized Aptitude.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Equipping it alongside Flawed Rifle Aptitude or Galvanized Aptitude despite their listed incompatibility.
- Treating the Status Chance bonus as guaranteed status damage or a specified status type.
