Section Density GUIDE

Understand Section Density

Useful when…

  • Increasing turret Critical Damage in Railjack.
  • Adding a critical-damage mod to a Plexus setup.

What does it improve?

Section Density grants +8.3% Turret Critical Damage at rank 0, +33.3% at rank 3, and +50% at maximum rank 5. It is a standard Madurai-polarity Plexus mod with base drain 10. The listed effect concerns turret critical damage; it does not increase critical chance.

Pairing and alternatives

Predator is a separate Plexus comparison that lists +50% Turret Critical Chance, which concerns how often critical hits occur rather than their damage. Waveband Disruptor applies when turret critical hits occur and gives them a chance to ignore enemy Shields. Crimson Fugue instead lists a turret damage bonus per enemy destroyed for 8 seconds, stacking up to five times. These options describe distinct mechanics; choose Section Density when the critical-damage bonus itself is what you want.

Rank investment

The maximum rank is 5. Listed fusion costs increase from 20 Endo and 966 Credits for 0→1 to 320 Endo and 15,456 Credits for 4→5. The last two ranks bring the listed bonus to +50%; weigh that increase against the mod’s base drain of 10 and your other Plexus needs.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • It improves critical damage rather than critical chance, shield bypass, or general turret damage.
  • The listed maximum-rank bonus comes with base drain 10 and increasing fusion costs.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Reading Critical Damage as a bonus to Critical Chance.
  • Assuming the listed turret bonus applies to Ordnance.
