Understand Sharpened Bullets
Useful when…
- Use when you can trigger kills and then land aimed shots before the effect expires.
- Compare weak-point-triggered critical chance mods if your setup more reliably hits weak points than secures kills.
How does the buff work?
A kill triggers a temporary critical damage bonus while aiming. At rank 0, it grants +12.5% for 2 seconds; rank 3 grants +50% for 6 seconds; rank 5 grants +75% for 9 seconds. The trigger is a kill, and the bonus is conditional on aiming during its duration.
When is it practical?
It is most useful when kills occur often enough to refresh the effect and you can keep aiming to benefit from it. If you cannot secure a kill or do not aim during the window, the bonus is not active. Galvanized Crosshairs and Hydraulic Crosshairs instead trigger on weak-point hits; Galvanized Crosshairs also lists a weak-point kill trigger and stacking critical chance. Embedded Catalyzer triggers on an ability cast and grants status chance while aiming. These are different trigger and stat combinations, not automatic substitutes.
What does ranking cost?
Sharpened Bullets has a standard pistol slot, Madurai polarity, base drain 2, and rank 5 maximum. Its ranked effect improves both the critical damage bonus and its duration, but later fusion steps cost more Endo and Credits. Invest in higher ranks when the longer, stronger aimed buff is worth those resources and mod capacity.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Requires a kill to activate and aiming to benefit from the bonus.
- The buff has a limited duration, ranging from 2 to 9 seconds by rank.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Do not treat the buff as permanent; it expires after the listed duration.
- Do not confuse critical damage with critical chance.
