Sonic Boost

K-Drive crowd-control mod

Released Nov 8, 2018

Sonic Boost periodically releases a shockwave when you boost on a K-Drive, stunning nearby enemies. Consider it for K-Drive use when a timed stun can help create space; it does not list damage.

Understand Sonic Boost

Useful when…

  • K-Drive riding where periodic nearby stuns are useful.

Effect and conditions

Boosting triggers a shockwave on a timer. At rank 0, the shockwave stuns enemies within 1 m every 40 seconds; at rank 2, within 3 m every 20 seconds; and at rank 3, within 4 m every 10 seconds. The listed effect is a stun, not damage.

Fit and ranking

This Rare Standard K-Drive mod uses a standard slot, has Madurai polarity and 4 base drain, and reaches rank 3. Fusion steps cost 30/1,449, 60/2,898, and 120/5,796 Endo/Credits. Ranking improves both the interval and radius, so the higher ranks make the periodic control effect available more often and across a larger area.

Other K-Drive effects

Bomb The Landin' describes a 20 m slam shockwave dealing 300 damage; Cold Arrival deals 400 Cold damage to enemies within 4 m on dismount; Kinetic Friction releases 400 Electricity damage within 4 m when a grind trick lands. These require different actions and describe damage rather than Sonic Boost's timed stun.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • The effect depends on boosting and has a cooldown interval.
  • The listed effect stuns enemies; it does not list damage.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Expecting a shockwave with every boost; it follows a rank-dependent timer.
  • Confusing the stun with the damage effects listed for other K-Drive mods.
