Understand Staggering Shield
Useful when…
- Use it on Mesa when the chance to stagger from reflected bullets supports your ability setup.
- Rank it further when raising the listed base stagger chance justifies the fusion cost and standard slot.
How does the augment work?
Staggering Shield modifies Shatter Shield: reflected bullets have a chance to stagger enemies. Its base chance is 30% at rank 0, 40% at rank 2, and 50% at rank 3; the description says the chance increases with power strength. The input provides no formula for that increase, so these base values should not be treated as a calculated final chance.
What does ranking cost?
The Mesa augment reaches rank 3. Example steps cost 30 Endo and 1,449 Credits for 0→1, 60 Endo and 2,898 Credits for 1→2, and 120 Endo and 5,796 Credits for 2→3. Ranking raises the base stagger chance, but uses an ordinary standard slot and requires increasingly costly fusion.
Which Mesa augment has a different job?
Muzzle Flash uses Shooting Gallery and triggers a blind after six kill assists by a player with that ability. Ballistic Bullseye modifies Ballistic Battery's charged shot with a critical chance bonus. Mesa's Waltz changes Peacemaker movement and is a Conclave Exilus augment. These have different ability triggers or variant and slot requirements; they do not reproduce Staggering Shield's reflected-bullet stagger effect.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- It occupies a standard slot for a control effect tied to Shatter Shield's reflected bullets.
- Power strength affects the chance, but the supplied effect does not specify a scaling formula.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating the base 50% as the final chance after power strength.
- Assuming it increases damage or Shatter Shield protection; the described augment effect is a chance to stagger.
