Understand Strain Eruption
Useful when…
- Use on a Helminth Charger when Maggot deaths can occur near groups of enemies.
- Consider higher ranks when expanding the explosion radius and increasing the current-Health percentage justifies the fusion cost.
What happens when a Maggot dies?
At rank 0, a Maggot's death deals 1% of an enemy's current Health as Corrosive Damage to enemies within 2 meters. At rank 3, the listed effect rises to 4% and 8 meters. Because the percentage is based on current Health, it does not describe a fixed amount based on the enemy's original Health; the input does not specify further damage behavior or how multiple explosions interact.
How to fit it into a Charger build
The effect requires Maggots to die near enemies, so it is most relevant when your Helminth Charger can create those opportunities. Trample instead rushes through enemies for listed damage and temporary bonuses per enemy hit; Proboscis pulls an enemy within 30 meters and deals listed damage. Those are different precepts and do not duplicate Strain Eruption's death-triggered area effect.
Rank and capacity tradeoffs
This is a standard Helminth Charger mod with Naramon polarity, base drain 2, and maximum rank 3. Ranking increases both the percentage of current Health and the explosion radius: the listed milestones are 1% and 2 meters at rank 0, 3% and 6 meters at rank 2, and 4% and 8 meters at rank 3. Successive fusion steps cost 30, 60, and 120 Endo, plus 1,449, 2,898, and 5,796 Credits. Decide whether the wider radius and increased percentage merit those resources and slot capacity.
Conditions and common misreadings
This is a Charger mod, not a Warframe mod. Its trigger is Maggot death, and the listed radius is measured in meters; it does not grant the pull or rush behavior of the other mentioned precepts. Strain Fever is another Charger mod, but its listed effect increases Charger damage per Cyst rather than causing Maggot explosions.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The damage requires Maggots to die within range of enemies.
- The percentage is based on current Health, and fusion consumes Endo and Credits.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Equipping it on a Warframe or another companion instead of a Helminth Charger.
- Reading the percentage as based on an enemy's starting Health, or overlooking the Maggot-death trigger.
