Understand Synth Deconstruct
Useful when…
- Add a chance of extra Health Orb drops to a build where your Companion regularly damages enemies.
- Consider it alongside Companion setups that can make use of Health Orbs; it occupies a standard Companion mod slot.
How the effect works
Enemies injured by your Companion have a chance to drop a Health Orb when killed. The chance is 2% at rank 0, 15% at rank 3, and 25% at rank 5. The condition is Companion injury; the effect is a chance, not a guaranteed drop.
Fit and rank investment
This Rare, standard Companion mod has Madurai polarity, base drain 4, and a maximum rank of 5. Raising rank improves the chance, with the listed step from rank 4 to 5 costing 480 Endo and 23,184 Credits. Weigh the higher chance against those costs and the slot and capacity used; the mod does not list an incompatible item exclusion.
When another Companion mod serves a different goal
Contagious Bond spreads part of a Status Effect when the Companion kills an afflicted enemy, while Duplex Bond creates clones when you expend energy and gives their kills a chance to drop Energy Orbs. These have separate triggers and outcomes, so they are alternatives to consider for different goals rather than direct replacements for Synth Deconstruct’s Health Orb chance. Loyal Companion instead provides a low-health defensive trigger and draws fire to the Companion.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The maximum 25% chance still does not guarantee Health Orbs.
- Ranking improves the chance but consumes Endo and Credits; the mod also uses a Companion slot and capacity.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming every kill by the player qualifies; the stated condition is that the enemy was injured by the Companion.
- Treating the 25% maximum chance as a guaranteed Health Orb drop.
