Understand Teeming Virulence
Useful when…
- Gaining primary weapon critical chance after a Virulence hit on four enemies
- Using Nidus's crowd-hit ability to support primary weapon attacks
Trigger and bonus
Hitting 4 enemies with Virulence grants primary weapon critical chance. At rank 0 the bonus is 125% for 9 seconds; rank 2 gives 175% for 13 seconds; maximum rank 3 gives 200% for 15 seconds.
Use conditions
The trigger requires Virulence to hit four enemies, and the stated bonus applies to primary weapons. It therefore fits situations where you can hit a group with Virulence and then use a primary weapon during the bonus duration. The stated effect does not apply the bonus to secondary or melee weapons.
Rank and investment
Teeming Virulence is a standard Nidus augment with Zenurik polarity, base drain 6, and maximum rank 3. The rank 2-to-3 step costs 120 Endo and 5,796 Credits for the increase to 200% critical chance and 15 seconds.
Other Nidus augment priorities
Insatiable supports Mutation stack gain while Nidus is in the infestation. Abundant Mutation raises maximum Mutation stacks and changes Undying's cooldown. Larva Burst lets Larva be reactivated to deal Toxin damage based on enemies grabbed. These address Mutation, survival, or Larva damage rather than primary weapon critical chance.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The effect requires Virulence to hit four enemies.
- The bonus is limited to primary weapon critical chance and expires after its stated duration.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the bonus triggers when Virulence hits fewer than four enemies.
- Applying the stated critical chance bonus to secondary or melee weapons.
