Understand Emblem of Severed Fate
Useful when…
- A character whose damage depends substantially on Elemental Burst hits.
- A build that benefits from the two-piece Energy Recharge increase while investing in Burst damage.
How does the Energy Recharge conversion work?
Two pieces grant 20% Energy Recharge. Four pieces increase Elemental Burst DMG by 25% of the character’s Energy Recharge, capped at a 75% Burst DMG bonus from this effect. For example, 100% Energy Recharge corresponds to a 25% bonus from the conversion, while 300% reaches the 75% cap. The formula makes Energy Recharge serve both its ordinary purpose and this set’s Burst bonus, but the cap means additional Energy Recharge above the conversion cap does not raise this particular bonus.
When should you consider it?
Its strongest fit is a character whose relevant damage comes from Elemental Bursts and who can make practical use of Energy Recharge. If the character’s damage is mainly from other sources, the four-piece conversion does not support those hits. Decide Energy Recharge needs for the character’s use case before investing further for the set bonus, since the conversion has a defined ceiling.
How does it differ from the listed sets?
Celestial Gift shares the two-piece 20% Energy Recharge bonus, but its four-piece effect requires the wielder to have completed Witch’s Homework and use an Elemental Skill; it then grants nearby allies an elemental damage bonus, upgraded under Hexerei: Secret Rite conditions. Finale of the Deep Galleries instead gives Cryo DMG at two pieces and requires zero Elemental Energy for its four-piece Normal Attack and Burst bonuses. Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City is triggered by a reaction related to the equipping character’s Elemental Type and grants nearby allies elemental bonuses, with a larger effect in Nightsoul’s Blessing. These sets have distinct activation conditions and purposes.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The four-piece bonus applies only to Elemental Burst DMG.
- The Energy Recharge conversion is capped at a 75% Burst DMG bonus.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating the four-piece effect as a general damage bonus; it increases Elemental Burst DMG only.
- Investing Energy Recharge beyond what is useful for the character while expecting the conversion to exceed its 75% cap.
