Understand Gambler
Useful when…
- A Skill-focused setup that can make use of the two-piece damage increase.
- Combat against opponents where defeating one can help enable another Elemental Skill use.
What do the bonuses do?
Two pieces increase Elemental Skill DMG by 20%. Four pieces give a 100% chance to remove Elemental Skill cooldown when the wearer defeats an opponent. This reset can occur only once every 15 seconds. The effect is tied to a defeat; simply damaging or hitting an opponent does not meet the stated condition.
When is the reset practical?
The four-piece effect is most useful when a Skill is ready to be used again but still on cooldown at the time the wearer defeats an opponent. Its value therefore depends on having a qualifying defeat and on the 15-second limit. The two-piece effect has no stated defeat condition, so it can support Skill damage even when resets are unlikely.
How does it differ from the listed options?
Thundering Fury provides Electro DMG at two pieces and reaction-specific damage bonuses and Skill cooldown reductions at four pieces; those reductions depend on triggering Quicken or the listed reactions. Scholar focuses on Energy Recharge and grants Energy to party members with a Bow or Catalyst when particles or orbs are gained. Tiny Miracle increases elemental resistance after incoming elemental damage. These options address different needs, rather than duplicating Gambler’s defeat-triggered reset.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The four-piece cooldown reset requires the wearer to defeat an opponent and is limited to once every 15 seconds.
- The two-piece effect applies to Skill damage only.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting the reset when merely hitting an opponent; the wearer must defeat one.
- Expecting multiple cooldown resets inside the 15-second trigger interval.
