Understand Song of Days Past
Useful when…
- Converting party healing, including overflow healing, into a limited number of damage boosts.
- Using the two-piece Healing Bonus alongside another set when four pieces are not suitable.
How does the four-piece effect work?
Two pieces grant 15% Healing Bonus. With four pieces, healing a party member creates Yearning for 6 seconds; it records healing, including overflow, up to 15,000. When that duration ends, it becomes Waves of Days Past. Each time the active party member hits with a Normal Attack, Charged Attack, Plunging Attack, Elemental Skill, or Elemental Burst, that hit's damage increases by 8% of the recorded healing. Waves ends after five hits or 10 seconds. Only one Yearning instance can exist at a time, and it can record healing from multiple equipping characters. A wearer on standby can trigger the effect.
When does it fit a healer?
It is worth considering when the wearer heals party members and the active character can land eligible hits after Yearning converts to Waves. The 15,000 healing cap limits the amount recorded, while the five-hit limit and 10-second duration limit how many attacks benefit. Overflow healing counts toward the recorded total, but recording more than the cap does not increase it further.
How is it different from other healing sets?
Ocean-Hued Clam turns healing into a nearby-opponent damage explosion after 3 seconds, with healing counted up to 30,000 HP and damage based on 90% of that amount. Song instead increases damage on up to five eligible hits by the active party member. Celestial Gift provides a different kind of support: its Elemental damage bonus requires the wearer to have completed Witch's Homework and use an Elemental Skill. These effects serve different triggers and recipients; choose based on the supported mechanics rather than treating them as interchangeable healer sets.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The recorded healing is capped at 15,000 per Yearning instance.
- Only five eligible hits can benefit, and Waves expires after 10 seconds.
- A single Yearning instance can exist at once.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Counting on more than 15,000 recorded healing to increase the bonus.
- Assuming every hit can benefit after five triggers or beyond the 10-second duration.
- Confusing this hit-based damage support with Ocean-Hued Clam's healing-based explosion.
