Understand Durin
Useful when…
- Choose Confirmation of Purity for the following dragon’s area attacks and its conditional resistance reduction.
- Choose Denial of Darkness when prioritizing the stated Vaporize and Melt damage increases.
- Use the skill’s state-entry Energy restoration when planning repeated state changes in combat.
Skill states and entry
Binary Form: Convergence and Division begins Essential Transmutation. While transmuted, the skill is replaced by one of two special skills, and his normal attack is replaced by the other. Confirmation of Purity deals one area Pyro hit, reverses the transmutation, and enters Confirmation of Purity for 30 seconds. Denial of Darkness deals three consecutive Pyro hits in front, reverses the transmutation, and enters Denial of Darkness for 30 seconds. Entering either state while in battle restores six Energy, once every six seconds. The skill has a 12-second cooldown. This is a mode choice with distinct damage and burst consequences; the single-hit and three-hit skill versions are not one combined attack.
Burst modes and their bonuses
In Confirmation of Purity, the burst deals three area Pyro hits in front and creates Dragon of White Flame, which follows the active character and attacks nearby opponents at intervals with area Pyro damage. In Denial of Darkness, the burst likewise opens with three area Pyro hits in front, then creates Dragon of Dark Decay, which follows the active character and periodically attacks one nearby opponent. Both dragon attacks count as Elemental Burst damage. If Durin is not in a special state when he bursts, he uses the Purity version. White Flame’s passive reduces an opponent’s Pyro resistance and the resistance for the corresponding element involved by 20% for six seconds after nearby party members trigger Burning, Overloaded, Pyro Swirl, or Pyro Crystallize on that opponent, or deal Pyro or Dendro damage to an opponent affected by Burning. Dark Decay instead increases Durin’s Vaporize and Melt damage by 40%. Choose according to the applicable conditions; the two bonuses do not apply simultaneously from one burst form.
Burst damage passive and investment
After using his burst, Chaos Formed Like the Night gives Durin 10 Primordial Fusion stacks for 20 seconds. Each periodic dragon attack consumes one stack and increases that attack’s damage by 3% of its original damage for every 100 ATK, up to 75% additional damage. A dragon attack hitting multiple opponents consumes only one stack, and casting the burst again resets the stacks. Because this passive scales its stated bonus with ATK and applies only to periodic dragon attacks, it is particularly relevant when improving the damage of the chosen burst mode. The burst costs 70 Energy and has an 18-second cooldown. Raise Elemental Burst for the two burst openings and dragon attacks; raise the skill for its state-entry attacks. Normal Attack levels apply to the ordinary sword sequence, while transmutation replaces that normal attack with a special skill. The listed level 9-to-10 talent example costs 700,000 Mora, 16 Philosophies of Ballad, 12 Frost-Etched Warrant, two Eroded Sunfire, and one Crown of Insight.
Comparison and practical caution
Mavuika is also a Pyro claymore user, Arlecchino is a Pyro polearm user, and Dehya is a Pyro claymore user. Those element and weapon facts do not establish that they reproduce Durin’s state selection, following dragon attacks, or conditional mode-specific bonuses. Before committing talent materials, decide which state and burst effect you actually use; the mode-specific passive depends on the dragon form at burst time.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The resistance reduction and Vaporize/Melt increase belong to different burst forms and have different activation conditions.
- The burst costs 70 Energy; state entry restores six Energy only in battle and at most once every six seconds.
- Recasting the burst resets Primordial Fusion stacks, and the stacking bonus applies to periodic dragon attacks.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming both burst passives apply together; the burst form determines which dragon and conditional effect are used.
- Using the Darkness bonus as if it increased all Pyro damage; it specifically increases Durin’s Vaporize and Melt damage.
- Counting the 75% Primordial Fusion ceiling as automatic; the added damage depends on ATK and is limited to periodic dragon attacks while stacks remain.

Binary Form: Convergence and Division · Elemental skill
Purify the substance of souls and wishes to undergo **Essential Transmutation**. While transmuted, Durin's Elemental Skill Binary Form: Convergence and Division will be replaced with the special Elemental Skill Transmutation: Confirmation of Purity, and the Normal Attack Radiant Wingslash will be replaced with the special Elemental Skill Transmutation: Denial of Darkness.

When Durin enters the Confirmation of Purity or Denial of Darkness state while in battle, he will restore a certain amount of Elemental Energy. Elemental Energy can be restored this way once every 6s.

The Dragon of Dark Decay will follow the current active character and periodically attack a single nearby opponent, dealing Pyro DMG. This DMG is considered Elemental Burst DMG.

Light Manifest of the Divine Calculus
Durin will trigger different buffs depending on the form that his power manifests as when he unleashes his Elemental Burst. When that form is:
Dragon of White Flame
After nearby party members trigger Burning, Overloaded, Pyro Swirl, or Pyro Crystallize reactions on an opponent, or deal Pyro DMG or Dendro DMG to an opponent affected by Burning, that opponent's Pyro RES, and the RES for the corresponding Element involved in the reaction, are decreased by 20% for 6s.
Dragon of Dark Decay
Durin's Vaporize DMG is increased by 40% and his Melt DMG is increased by 40%.
Chaos Formed Like the Night
After unleashing an Elemental Burst, Durin gains the Primordial Fusion of Forms effect for 20s: Durin gains 10 stacks of Primordial Fusion. When a periodic attack from Dragon of White Flame or Dragon of Dark Decay deals DMG, 1 stack of Primordial Fusion will be consumed to increase the DMG dealt by 3% of the original DMG for every 100 ATK. A maximum of 75% additional DMG can be dealt this way. When a single attack from Dragon of White Flame or Dragon of Dark Decay hits multiple opponents, only one stack of Primordial Fusion is consumed.
Primordial Fusion stacks are reset when the Elemental Burst is unleashed again.
