Understand Eula
Useful when…
- Build Lightfall Sword stacks with Eula's own Normal Attacks, Elemental Skill, and Elemental Burst before the sword explodes.
- Use Icetide Vortex to gain Grimheart, then consume it for area Cryo damage and resistance reduction.
- Use her as a claymore user for standard normal, charged, and plunging attacks when those attacks suit the encounter.
Lightfall Sword: the main damage condition
Glacial Illumination deals nearby Cryo damage and creates a Lightfall Sword that follows Eula for up to 7 seconds. While it is present, it increases her resistance to interruption. Damage from Eula's own Normal Attack, Elemental Skill, or Elemental Burst adds an energy stack, at most once every 0.1 seconds. When its duration ends, the sword explodes for nearby Physical damage: the listed level-one formula is base damage plus damage per stack, up to 30 stacks. If Eula leaves the field, it explodes immediately, so switching away cuts off the remaining time to build stacks. The burst has a 20-second cooldown and costs 80 Energy.
Use Grimheart to improve skill effects
A press of Icetide Vortex deals Cryo damage and grants one Grimheart stack when it hits an opponent; stacks are gained at most once every 0.3 seconds and cap at two. Grimheart increases DEF and resistance to interruption. Holding the skill consumes all stacks to deal area Cryo damage in front of Eula. If it consumes stacks, nearby opponents have both Physical and Cryo RES reduced for 7 seconds, and each consumed stack creates an Icewhirl Brand that deals Cryo damage nearby. The hold cooldown is 10 seconds, compared with 4 seconds for press. If the hold consumes two stacks, Roiling Rime also creates a Shattered Lightfall Sword immediately, dealing 50% of the basic Physical damage of the sword from her burst. Casting the burst resets the skill cooldown and grants one Grimheart stack.
Attack handling and talent investment
Her normal attack has up to five strikes. Her charged attack spends 40 Stamina per second for up to 5 seconds of continuous slashes, ending in a stronger slash; plunging attacks deal damage along the path and in an area on landing. The burst is the clearest priority when investing for its stack-scaling Physical explosion. Normal Attack levels matter for a plan that uses her normal attacks during its build window; the skill's value includes Cryo damage, Grimheart utility, and resistance reduction. These are separate talent tracks, so investment can follow the parts of her kit you use. Ascension materials listed include Shivada Jade, Dandelion Seeds, and Crystalline Bloom; combat talent upgrades use Resistance books, Mask materials, and Dragon Lord's Crown at the final listed step.
Timing mistakes and limits
Leaving the field ends the Lightfall Sword's build window immediately, so swapping out early sacrifices opportunities for more of Eula's own attacks to add stacks. Conversely, the sword's 7-second duration and once-per-0.1-second stack limit mean extra hits beyond that rate do not add more stacks. The skill's resistance reduction requires consuming at least one Grimheart stack; a press alone does not apply the stated reduction. The two-stack hold has a longer cooldown than press, and the burst's 80 Energy cost is substantial enough to consider when planning how often it will be ready.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The burst's largest payoff depends on building stacks before its fixed duration ends; switching away triggers an immediate explosion.
- Holding Icetide Vortex consumes Grimheart and uses a 10-second cooldown, versus 4 seconds for press.
- The burst costs 80 Energy and has a 20-second cooldown.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Switching away before the Lightfall Sword expires and ending its stack-building window early.
- Expecting Icetide Vortex to reduce resistance when its hold consumes no Grimheart stacks.
- Assuming additional attack hits build Lightfall Sword stacks faster than once every 0.1 seconds.
