Understand Skirk
Useful when…
- Use her tap skill to enter Seven-Phase Flash, or hold it for rapid, steerable movement with increased interruption resistance and water traversal.
- Build Serpent’s Subtlety through skill use and, with the relevant ascension talent unlocked, absorb Void Rifts generated by nearby reactions.
- Consider her in a party made entirely of Hydro and Cryo characters, with at least one of each, to activate her Elemental Skill Level bonus.
- Use her as an on-field Cryo attacker when she can benefit from Hydro/Cryo teammates that grant Death’s Crossing.
Skill modes and resource loop
Havoc: Warp has two distinct uses. Tap grants 45 Serpent’s Subtlety and switches Skirk to Seven-Phase Flash for 12.5 seconds. Hold also grants 45 points, then lets her move quickly with increased interruption resistance; she can steer and move on water, and can end the movement early by using the skill again. Her burst is resource-driven rather than reliant on Elemental Energy. Outside Seven-Phase Flash, Havoc: Ruin is available at 50 or more Serpent’s Subtlety, consumes all of it, and deals consecutive Cryo slashes in an area. Each point above 50 increases an instance’s damage, counting at most 12 points for that bonus. In Seven-Phase Flash, the burst is replaced by Havoc: Extinction, which can be used without spending Serpent’s Subtlety. It grants All Shall Wither until the mode ends; after unlocking Reason Beyond Reason, it can also absorb nearby Void Rifts. While the effect is active, normal attacks that hit gain increased damage, once every 0.1 seconds, for up to 10 triggers. Rift absorption further increases that normal-attack damage. The skill has an 8-second cooldown, while the standard burst has a 15-second cooldown.
Rifts and party conditions
Reason Beyond Reason creates a Void Rift when nearby party members trigger Frozen, Superconduct, Stellar-Conduct, Cryo Swirl, Stellar Swirl, or Cryo Crystallize against opponents. It can trigger once every 2.5 seconds, and at most three rifts created by Skirk herself can exist at once. She absorbs rifts by hitting an opponent with a charged attack in Seven-Phase Flash, using Havoc: Extinction during that mode, or holding Havoc: Warp to move rapidly. Each absorbed rift grants 8 Serpent’s Subtlety, so this talent links reaction activity to her own burst resource and enhanced mode attacks. Return to Oblivion grants Death’s Crossing when nearby Hydro characters hit opponents with Hydro attacks or nearby Cryo characters other than Skirk hit with Cryo attacks. Each such party member can grant at most one stack, up to three total, lasting 20 seconds with independent timers. These stacks strengthen Seven-Phase Flash normal attacks and Havoc: Ruin burst damage; the listed multipliers rise with stacks. Her passive Mutual Weapons Mentorship raises party members’ Elemental Skill Level by 1 only when all party members are Hydro or Cryo and there is at least one of each element. This is a narrow composition condition, not a general team-wide bonus.
Practical attack and investment priorities
Her normal sequence has up to five attacks. Charged attacks consume 20 Stamina and hurl a spinning crystal spear; in Seven-Phase Flash, charged attacks can also absorb nearby rifts. Prioritize the skill and burst tracks if your plan relies on generating Serpent’s Subtlety, entering Seven-Phase Flash, and using either burst form. Normal-attack investment is relevant when Skirk spends time attacking in her mode, particularly because Havoc: Extinction’s effect triggers from normal-attack hits. The three combat tracks each reach level 10; the examples show that the final upgrade step has a high Mora and material cost and requires a Crown of Insight. Ascension is its own progression track. Concentrate investment on the tracks that match the mode and attacks you actually use rather than treating all three as equally necessary.
Limitations and common mistakes
Havoc: Ruin cannot be used until Skirk has at least 50 Serpent’s Subtlety, and it consumes the whole reserve; having more than 62 does not increase the stated over-50 bonus further. In Seven-Phase Flash, the burst changes to Havoc: Extinction, so do not expect the standard burst’s resource spending or slashes during that mode. Death’s Crossing requires hits from nearby Hydro or other Cryo party members; Skirk herself does not supply a stack through her own Cryo hits. The party skill-level bonus requires both elements and excludes any other party element. Rift generation is limited by its trigger interval and three-rift cap, while rift absorption requires one of the specified actions. These conditions make her enhanced effects depend on both mode and party actions.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Her burst uses Serpent’s Subtlety, so its availability depends on skill use and any Void Rift absorption rather than Elemental Energy.
- Her special burst and rift-enhanced normal attacks only operate in Seven-Phase Flash; the standard burst has different resource and damage behavior.
- Her party bonuses require a restricted Hydro/Cryo composition, and Death’s Crossing stacks require other characters to hit enemies.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Trying to use Havoc: Ruin below 50 Serpent’s Subtlety or overlooking that it spends all current points.
- Expecting Havoc: Ruin while Seven-Phase Flash is active; the mode replaces it with Havoc: Extinction.
- Expecting Skirk’s own Cryo hits to grant Death’s Crossing, which is granted by Hydro party members or other Cryo party members.
- Assuming rifts accumulate without limit; Skirk can have at most three of her own rifts on the field.
