Kaedehara Kazuha

Anemo support and grouping specialist

Released Jun 29, 2021

Kazuha is an Anemo sword character who gathers nearby enemies and objects, then boosts party members’ elemental damage after triggering Swirl. Consider him when a team deals Hydro, Pyro, Cryo, or Electro damage and benefits from pulling opponents together.

Kaedehara Kazuha GUIDE

Understand Kaedehara Kazuha

Useful when…

  • Grouping enemies and objects with Chihayaburu and Midare Ranzan.
  • Boosting party elemental damage after Swirl.
  • Adding Anemo damage and an elemental-absorbing field with Kazuha Slash.
  • Reducing sprinting Stamina use while exploring.

What do his skill and burst do?

Chihayaburu pulls nearby objects and opponents toward Kazuha, launches opponents in its area, and lifts him into the air. Press has a shorter cooldown than Hold, which deals greater Anemo damage over a larger area. Within 10 seconds of casting, a plunge becomes Midare Ranzan: it deals Anemo damage and creates a small wind tunnel on landing. His burst creates an eight-second field that periodically deals AoE Anemo damage. If the field contacts Hydro, Pyro, Cryo, or Electro, it absorbs that element and deals additional damage of that type; absorption can happen only once per cast. Chihayaburu can absorb those same elements too, adding absorbed-element damage to Midare Ranzan when used before the skill effect expires.

When does he help the party?

After Kazuha triggers Swirl, Poetics of Fuubutsu grants all party members 0.04% Elemental DMG Bonus for each point of his Elemental Mastery to the element absorbed by Swirl, lasting eight seconds. Bonuses for different elements can coexist. This makes him a useful option when the party can apply Hydro, Pyro, Cryo, or Electro for him to Swirl. His skill’s pull and plunge can also help collect scattered opponents or objects. His passive reduces party sprinting Stamina consumption by 20%, but the effect does not stack with an identical passive.

What should be improved first?

Ascension raises his character progression through six stages; the supplied examples include Vayuda Turquoise, Sea Ganoderma, Insignias, and Marionette Cores. His skill and burst are separate talent tracks. The skill controls Chihayaburu’s damage, while the burst controls Kazuha Slash’s damage; invest according to how much you value those attacks. His normal-attack track matters more if you use his regular sword attacks. The listed final step from talent level 9 to 10 costs 700,000 Mora, materials, a weekly talent item, and a Crown of Insight, so reserve that expense for a track you intend to raise fully.

What can go wrong?

The elemental damage bonus requires Kazuha to trigger Swirl; merely having an element present does not itself grant the bonus. His burst can absorb only one element per cast, and the skill’s absorption is a separate effect with its own timing condition. Midare Ranzan requires a plunge within 10 seconds of using the skill.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • His party damage bonus depends on triggering Swirl with an element the party uses.
  • The burst costs 60 Energy and has a 15-second cooldown.
  • Hold skill has a longer cooldown than Press: 9 seconds versus 6.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Assuming the elemental damage bonus activates without Kazuha triggering Swirl.
  • Expecting one burst cast to absorb multiple elements.
  • Waiting too long after Chihayaburu to perform Midare Ranzan.

Chihayaburu · Elemental skill

Unleashes a secret technique as fierce as the rushing wind that pulls objects and opponents towards Kazuha's current position before launching opponents within the AoE, dealing Anemo DMG and lifting Kazuha into the air on a rushing gust of wind.
Within 10s of remaining airborne after casting Chihayaburu, Kazuha can unleash a powerful Plunging Attack known as Midare Ranzan.

Press
Can be used in mid-air.

Hold
Charges up before unleashing greater Anemo DMG over a larger AoE than Press Mode.

Plunging Attack: Midare Ranzan
When a Plunging Attack is performed using the effects of the Elemental Skill Chihayaburu, Plunging Attack DMG is converted to Anemo DMG. On landing, Kazuha creates a small wind tunnel via a secret blade technique that pulls in nearby objects and opponents.
Midare Ranzan's DMG is considered Plunging Attack DMG.

Kazuha Slash · Elemental burst

The signature technique of Kazuha's self-styled bladework — a single slash that strikes with the force of the first winds of autumn, dealing AoE Anemo DMG.
The blade's passage will leave behind a field named "Autumn Whirlwind" that periodically deals AoE Anemo DMG to opponents within its range.

Elemental Absorption
If Autumn Whirlwind comes into contact with Hydro/Pyro/Cryo/Electro, it will deal additional elemental DMG of that type.
Elemental Absorption may only occur once per use.

If Chihayaburu comes into contact with Hydro/Pyro/Cryo/Electro when cast, this Chihayaburu will absorb that element and if Plunging Attack: Midare Ranzan is used before the effect expires, it will deal an additional 200% ATK of the absorbed elemental type as DMG. This will be considered Plunging Attack DMG.
Elemental Absorption may only occur once per use of Chihayaburu.

Poetics of Fuubutsu

Upon triggering a Swirl or Stellar Swirl reaction, Kaedehara Kazuha will grant all party members a 0.04% Elemental DMG Bonus to the element absorbed by Swirl for every point of Elemental Mastery he has for 8s. Bonuses for different elements obtained through this method can co-exist.

Cloud Strider

Decreases sprinting Stamina consumption for your own party members by 20%.
Not stackable with Passive Talents that provide the exact same effects.
