Shikanoin Heizou

Anemo catalyst fighter with a stack-based Elemental Skill and party Elemental Mastery buff

Released Jul 13, 2022

Shikanoin Heizou’s normal, charged, and plunging attacks deal Anemo damage. Heartstopper Strike gains power from Declension stacks, with Conviction at four stacks strengthening the next strike and enlarging its area. His skill hit also grants other party members an Elemental Mastery bonus, while his burst can pull nearby objects and opponents and trigger elemental follow-up damage.

Understand Shikanoin Heizou

Useful when…

  • Build Declension for a stronger Heartstopper Strike; at four stacks, Conviction also increases its area.
  • Use a Heartstopper Strike hit to grant other party members 80 Elemental Mastery for 10 seconds.
  • Use Windmuster Kick against opponents affected by Hydro, Pyro, Cryo, or Electro for corresponding elemental follow-up damage.
  • Take advantage of the party’s reduced sprinting Stamina consumption from his passive.

Heartstopper Strike and Declension

Tapping Heartstopper Strike launches an Anemo strike. Holding the skill charges energy and grants Declension, which increases the power of the next Heartstopper Strike. Declension stacks up to four times. At four stacks, Conviction makes the next strike stronger and gives it a larger area. The skill’s listed cooldown is 10 seconds. While Heizou is on the field, activating Swirl or Stellar Swirl grants one Declension stack; this effect can trigger once every 0.1 seconds. When Heartstopper Strike hits an opponent, his passive increases the Elemental Mastery of other party members by 80 for 10 seconds; Heizou is excluded.

Windmuster Kick and elemental follow-up

Windmuster Kick has a 12-second cooldown and costs 40 energy. Its Vacuum Slugger creates an Arresting Windtunnel on hit, pulling nearby objects and opponents and dealing area Anemo damage. If it hits opponents affected by Hydro, Pyro, Cryo, or Electro, it applies a Windmuster Iris that later explodes for area damage of the corresponding element. It can affect up to four opponents. A single opponent cannot be affected by Irises of different elements at the same time.

Attacks and exploration passive

His normal attack performs up to five Anemo strikes. His charged attack is a sweeping kick that costs 25 stamina, and his plunging attack deals area Anemo damage on impact. His passive decreases sprinting Stamina consumption for party members by 20%; this effect does not stack with passives that provide the exact same effect.

Upgrade tracks and materials

Heizou has separate ascension, normal-attack, Elemental Skill, and Elemental Burst upgrade tracks. Listed ascension materials include Onikabuto and Runic Fang. The level 9-to-10 example for each combat track includes Philosophies of Transience, Golden Raven Insignia, The Meaning of Aeons, a Crown of Insight, and Mora.

Related Anemo characters

Kaedehara Kazuha is a five-star Anemo sword user, Ifa is a four-star Anemo catalyst user, and Varka is a five-star Anemo claymore user. Ifa shares Heizou’s listed element and weapon category; those comparison details do not establish that Ifa shares Heizou’s stack mechanic or party Elemental Mastery buff.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • The party Elemental Mastery bonus excludes Heizou and lasts 10 seconds.
  • Windmuster Iris follow-up depends on the target being affected by one of four listed elements and is limited to four opponents.
  • A target cannot have Windmuster Irises of different elements at the same time.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Assuming the Elemental Mastery bonus affects Heizou himself.
  • Confusing four Declension stacks, which produce Conviction, with Conviction itself.
  • Expecting the Swirl passive to grant a stack while Heizou is off the field.
  • Expecting one opponent to carry simultaneous Windmuster Irises of different elements.
