Beyond the Chrysalis

Skill- and Burst-triggered rotating-stat sword

Released Sep 23, 2026

Beyond the Chrysalis is a 5-star sword with CRIT DMG as its secondary stat and 47.537 base ATK. Each Elemental Skill or Burst use grants the next effect in a fixed sequence: CRIT DMG, Stellar Swirl reaction DMG, then Energy restoration. Leaving the field removes the effects and resets the sequence.

Understand Beyond the Chrysalis

Useful when…

  • Consider it for a wielder who can use the ordered CRIT DMG, Stellar Swirl reaction DMG, and Energy effects while managing field time.
  • Consider it when the wielder benefits from the weapon's Energy restoration.

How does the effect sequence work?

At refinement 1, each Skill or Burst use grants the next effect in order: Winds of Devotion gives 56% CRIT DMG for 10 seconds; Winds of Defiance increases the wielder's Stellar Swirl reaction DMG by 36% for 10 seconds; Winds of Plenty restores 5 Energy. The Energy effect has a 5-Energy cap per 4 seconds. The effects are removed and the sequence resets when the wielder leaves the field.

How do refinements change the effects?

At refinements 2–5, the CRIT DMG bonuses are 72%, 88%, 104%, and 120%; the Stellar Swirl reaction DMG bonuses are 45%, 54%, 63%, and 72%. Energy restoration and its per-4-second cap rise from 5 to 5.5, 6, 6.5, and 7 Energy at refinements 2–5. The listed durations for the first two effects remain 10 seconds.

What handling does it reward?

The trigger is using an Elemental Skill or Burst, and the result depends on the current position in the sequence. The effects arrive in order rather than being selected. Leaving the field removes the effects and restarts the sequence. Energy restoration is for the equipping character.

What investment does it require?

Ascension progresses through stage 6; the listed examples show costs for stages 0→1, 3→4, and 5→6. Refinement progresses from 1 to 5 and each listed step consumes one R1 sacrifice copy plus Mora. The supplied refinement effects increase the bonuses and Energy values; they do not list a change to the trigger or sequence order.

How do the listed sword alternatives differ?

Absolution has CRIT DMG and grants a damage increase when Bond of Life value increases. Amenoma Kageuchi grants a Succession Seed after a Skill and restores Energy after a Burst consumes seeds. Aquila Favonia has a Physical DMG Bonus secondary stat, an ATK increase, and an effect triggered by taking damage that restores HP and deals area damage. Their listed effects have different triggers and benefits.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • The passive cycles in a fixed order rather than letting the wielder choose an effect.
  • Leaving the field removes effects and resets the sequence.
  • Energy restoration is limited by the per-4-second cap, which varies with refinement.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Expecting the sequence position or active effects to persist after leaving the field.
  • Assuming each Skill or Burst use grants the same effect instead of the next effect in order.
  • Treating the Energy restoration cap as unchanged across refinements.
