Understand Blackcliff Slasher
Useful when…
- Use when a claymore wielder benefits from CRIT DMG and can trigger ATK stacks through opponent defeats.
- Consider it in encounters with multiple opponents where successive defeats can build the passive.
What does the passive require?
At refinement 1, defeating an opponent grants 12% ATK for 30 seconds. Up to three stacks can be active, and each stack has an independent duration. Refinements raise the ATK increase per stack to 15%, 18%, 21%, and 24%. The trigger requires defeating an opponent; damage alone is not enough.
When is this claymore useful?
Its CRIT DMG secondary stat does not depend on defeats. The ATK passive does: it can build as opponents are defeated, but cannot be counted on in an encounter where no opponent is defeated during the relevant period. Because timers are independent, one stack may expire while later stacks remain. This makes encounter structure relevant when evaluating the passive's practical value.
What investment makes sense?
Ascension reaches stage 6, with the supplied examples showing costs at stages 0→1, 3→4, and 5→6. Refinement consumes one duplicate R1 copy per step plus Mora, increasing the ATK per stack. The listed refinement progression does not alter the trigger, duration, or three-stack cap. Weigh that copy cost against how often the wielder can activate the effect.
How do other listed claymores differ?
Ultimate Overlord's Mega Magic Sword has Energy Recharge and ATK bonuses, including an additional amount based on Melusines helped in Merusea Village. A Teaspoon of Transcendence provides ATK and a reaction damage effect triggered by Charged Attack hits. A Thousand Blazing Suns grants ATK and CRIT DMG after a Skill or Burst, with duration extensions after Elemental Normal or Charged Attack damage and further behavior in Nightsoul's Blessing. These effects have different activation conditions from Blackcliff Slasher's opponent defeats.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The ATK bonus only starts after an opponent is defeated.
- Its three stacks have separate 30-second durations.
- Refinement uses duplicate copies to raise the ATK per stack.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the passive triggers when an opponent is hit rather than defeated.
- Expecting all stacks to share a timer or remain active for the same duration.
- Counting on the ATK stacks in an encounter without defeat triggers.
