Understand Blackmarrow Lantern
Useful when…
- A catalyst wielder whose damage plan relies on Bloom or Lunar-Bloom.
- A Lunar-Bloom setup under Moonsign: Ascendant Gleam, which activates the weapon's extra Lunar-Bloom bonus.
What effects does it provide?
The weapon has 41.1 base ATK and an Elemental Mastery secondary stat. At R1, it increases Bloom DMG by 48% and Lunar-Bloom DMG by 12%. Under Moonsign: Ascendant Gleam, Lunar-Bloom DMG gains an additional 12%. These are separate listed bonuses; the extra one requires the specified Moonsign condition.
When should you consider it?
Use it as a candidate when the equipped catalyst character is meant to deal Bloom or Lunar-Bloom damage. Its Elemental Mastery stat also fits reaction-focused use, while its damage bonuses are specific to the named reactions. The supplied effect does not grant a general damage increase for unrelated attacks or reactions.
What should you improve first?
Ascension advances the weapon through six stages. Refinement consumes another Blackmarrow Lantern copy and Mora; from R1 to R5, the Bloom bonus rises from 48% to 96%, the Lunar-Bloom bonus from 12% to 24%, and the Ascendant Gleam addition from 12% to 24%. Refinement is most directly valuable when the wielder regularly deals the reaction damage named by those bonuses; ascension is the separate weapon-level progression.
How does it differ from other catalysts?
A Thousand Floating Dreams grants the wielder party-composition-dependent Elemental Mastery or elemental DMG bonuses and gives nearby teammates Elemental Mastery. Angelos' Heptades grants ATK and, after the wielder creates a shield, a timed active-party DMG bonus and Energy; its Hexerei clause has an additional condition. Apprentice's Notes is a 1-star catalyst with much lower listed base ATK and no secondary stat.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The damage bonuses are specific to Bloom and Lunar-Bloom rather than general-purpose DMG.
- The extra Lunar-Bloom bonus requires Moonsign: Ascendant Gleam.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Counting the extra Lunar-Bloom bonus without Moonsign: Ascendant Gleam.
- Treating the Bloom and Lunar-Bloom bonuses as a general damage increase for all attacks.
