Understand Bloodtainted Greatsword
Useful when…
- A claymore wielder who benefits from Elemental Mastery and commonly attacks targets affected by Pyro or Electro.
- Situations where the required Pyro or Electro effect can remain on opponents during the wielder's attacks.
What does the passive require?
The weapon has 37.6 base ATK and an Elemental Mastery secondary stat. At R1, it increases DMG against opponents affected by Pyro or Electro by 12%, reaching 24% at R5. The target must be affected by one of those elements for the stated bonus to apply; the weapon does not list a general damage increase against every opponent.
When does its stat profile fit?
Elemental Mastery makes the weapon a more plausible fit when the wielder's use benefits from that stat, while the passive rewards attacking opponents carrying Pyro or Electro. If the required element is absent from the target, only the listed weapon stats remain relevant. This is a low-rarity option whose effectiveness depends on both the wielder's stat needs and opponent state.
Is refinement a sensible investment?
Ascension advances the weapon through six stages. Refinement consumes another Bloodtainted Greatsword copy and Mora, raising the target-dependent bonus from 12% to 24% across R1 to R5. Refining is most relevant when opponents are regularly affected by Pyro or Electro; otherwise, the extra investment improves an inactive condition. Ascension is separate weapon-level progression.
What do the compared claymores do instead?
Ultimate Overlord's Mega Magic Sword provides Energy Recharge and ATK, with additional ATK tied to the Melusines helped in Merusea Village. A Teaspoon of Transcendence provides ATK and boosts Stellar-Conduct and Stellar Swirl damage after Charged Attack hits. A Thousand Blazing Suns grants timed CRIT DMG and ATK after using a Skill or Burst, with stronger effects in Nightsoul's Blessing. These candidates have different stats and triggers; their listed mechanics do not reproduce Bloodtainted Greatsword's Elemental Mastery and Pyro/Electro target condition.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The passive applies only against opponents affected by Pyro or Electro.
- The weapon's low listed base ATK and Elemental Mastery stat may not fit every claymore damage build.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the damage bonus applies when the opponent is not affected by Pyro or Electro.
- Refining without considering whether the required elemental effect will be present in the fights where the weapon is used.
