Understand Cinnabar Spindle
Useful when…
- For sword users whose Elemental Skill damage is an important part of their damage output.
- For builds that can make use of a DEF-based addition to Elemental Skill DMG.
Passive and timing
At refinement 1, the passive adds Elemental Skill DMG based on 40% of the wielder’s DEF. It can trigger no more than once every 1.5 seconds and clears 0.1 seconds after the Elemental Skill deals damage. The weapon’s DEF secondary stat supports this DEF-based effect.
Who can use it
Consider Cinnabar Spindle when Elemental Skill damage is a meaningful part of the wielder’s damage. The supplied effect adds damage based on DEF; it does not establish that the character’s Skill must otherwise scale from DEF. Its passive specifically applies to Elemental Skill DMG, not generally to other attack types.
How alternatives differ
Absolution offers CRIT DMG and increases the wielder’s damage when they increase the value of a Bond of Life. Amenoma Kageuchi has an ATK secondary stat and can restore Energy after a Burst based on the Succession Seeds consumed. Aquila Favonia has Physical DMG Bonus, increases ATK, and has an effect triggered by taking damage. Each has a different stat or trigger from Cinnabar Spindle’s DEF-based Skill damage effect.
Ascension and refinement
Ascension advances the weapon through stages 0–6. Refinement raises the DEF-based Elemental Skill DMG addition from 40% at rank 1 to 80% at rank 5. The listed refinement steps use Alkahest and Mora; the records provide example costs, not costs for every step.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The passive applies specifically to Elemental Skill DMG.
- The effect can trigger no more than once every 1.5 seconds and clears 0.1 seconds after the Skill deals damage.
- Its value depends on how much of the wielder’s damage comes from Elemental Skills.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating the effect as a persistent general damage bonus after the Skill deals damage.
- Assuming the passive boosts damage types other than Elemental Skill DMG.
- Assuming the character’s Skill must otherwise scale from DEF.
