Understand Crane's Echoing Call
Useful when…
- A catalyst wielder who can hit an opponent with a Plunging Attack to activate the party buff.
- A party with nearby members that hit opponents with Plunging Attacks and can use the resulting Energy restoration for the catalyst wielder.
How the effect works
The wielder must hit an opponent with a Plunging Attack to grant all nearby party members 28% increased Plunging Attack DMG for 20 seconds at R1; the bonus rises to 80% at R5. When nearby party members hit opponents with Plunging Attacks, the wielder restores 2.5 Energy per eligible trigger at R1, increasing to 3.5 at R5. Energy can be restored this way every 0.7 seconds, and this effect works while the wielder is off-field. The DMG bonus is specific to Plunging Attacks, not a general team damage bonus.
Who can make use of it?
It is a conditional support choice for a catalyst user who can land a Plunging Attack and a party whose members then make Plunging Attack hits. The Energy return also gives the wielder a reason to stay equipped while off-field, provided nearby party members perform those attacks. A Thousand Floating Dreams is a different catalyst option: it gives the wielder party-composition-based Elemental Mastery or elemental DMG bonuses and shares Elemental Mastery with nearby party members. Angelos' Heptades instead requires the wielder to create a Shield for its party DMG buff and Energy effect. These are distinct conditions rather than direct replacements for the Plunging Attack support effect.
Investment priorities
The weapon has six ascension stages; the listed costs include 10,000 Mora and early materials for stage 0 to 1, and 65,000 Mora with later materials for stage 5 to 6. Refinement consumes a duplicate copy and Mora. At R1 to R2, the listed Mora cost is 2,000; at R4 to R5 it is 16,000. Refinement improves both the Plunging Attack bonus and Energy returned, but copies are a separate investment. Ascend it if you need its base stats and plan to use the effect; refine it when both parts of its passive matter in your play.
Limitations and mistakes
A Plunging Attack must hit an opponent to activate the 20-second buff. Simply equipping the weapon, using another attack, or plunging without a hit does not meet the stated trigger. The buff applies to Plunging Attacks, so do not count it as a general damage increase for other attack modes. Energy restoration depends on nearby party members landing Plunging Attack hits and is limited to one trigger every 0.7 seconds.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Its party damage support applies only to Plunging Attacks.
- The wielder must land a Plunging Attack to activate the buff.
- Energy return depends on nearby party members hitting with Plunging Attacks, at a 0.7-second interval.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating the Plunging Attack DMG bonus as a universal party damage buff.
- Expecting the effect to activate without the wielder hitting an opponent with a Plunging Attack.
- Ignoring that off-field Energy restoration still requires nearby party members to land Plunging Attack hits.
