Understand Debate Club
Useful when…
- A claymore wielder who can use an Elemental Skill and then land Normal or Charged Attacks during the effect window.
- An early-stage or low-rarity setup that can use ATK and the additional small-area damage from repeated attacks.
Trigger and attack handling
After using an Elemental Skill, a Normal or Charged Attack hit deals additional damage equal to 60% of ATK in a small AoE at R1. This effect lasts 15 seconds, and the damage can occur only once every three seconds. At R5, the listed additional damage reaches 120% of ATK. The passive therefore rewards Skill use followed by the specified attack types, but its damage trigger has an interval even when attacks land more often.
Practical fit and alternatives
Consider Debate Club when a claymore wielder's combat pattern includes Normal or Charged Attacks after using a Skill. Its ATK secondary stat supports that attack setup, and the extra AoE damage can matter when targets are grouped close enough for the small area. Ultimate Overlord's Mega Magic Sword instead has Energy Recharge and ATK bonuses; its additional ATK depends on the number of Melusines helped. A Teaspoon of Transcendence requires Charged Attack hits for its Stellar-Conduct and Stellar Swirl bonuses, while A Thousand Blazing Suns activates after Skill or Burst use and has further duration and Nightsoul conditions. Those are different triggers and stat profiles, rather than direct copies of Debate Club's periodic attack hit effect.
Ascension and refinement priorities
Ascension progresses through six stages; listed examples include 5,000 Mora for stage 0 to 1 and 30,000 Mora for stage 5 to 6, alongside materials. Refinement requires a duplicate copy and Mora. The examples list 500 Mora for R1 to R2 and 4,000 Mora for R4 to R5. Each refinement increases the additional damage by 15 percentage points of ATK, up to 120% at R5. If its passive remains useful in the wielder's combat pattern, refinement strengthens it; otherwise, avoid spending copies simply to raise the listed maximum.
Limits and common mistakes
The Skill must be used before the described Normal or Charged Attack hits can produce additional damage. The effect only lasts 15 seconds, and successful qualifying damage is limited to once every three seconds. Do not count this passive as a bonus to Skill or Burst damage, or assume each Normal or Charged Attack produces another AoE hit immediately. Beginner's Protector is a basic 1-star claymore with no listed secondary stat or refinement passive, so it does not reproduce Debate Club's effect.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The passive requires Elemental Skill use before the qualifying attacks.
- Additional damage is limited to once every three seconds during the 15-second effect.
- It affects Normal and Charged Attack hits, not Skill or Burst damage.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting the passive before using an Elemental Skill.
- Assuming every Normal or Charged Attack hit adds damage despite the three-second interval.
- Counting the effect as a Skill or Burst damage bonus.
