Understand Emberwell
Useful when…
- Use on a sword character that triggers Elemental Reactions consistently.
- Consider for a Stellar Glimmer setup where the wielder can trigger that reaction and benefit from the additional reaction damage.
What does the passive do?
At R1, triggering an Elemental Reaction grants the equipping character 16% ATK for 12 seconds. Triggering Stellar Glimmer grants a separate 16% bonus to the wielder’s Stellar Glimmer reaction damage for the same duration. The effects may trigger while the wielder is off-field. Refinement raises both bonuses together, to 32% at R5; the duration remains 12 seconds.
When is its stat combination useful?
The sword has Elemental Mastery as its secondary stat, so it naturally suits a reaction-oriented role. Its reaction-triggered ATK increase adds value when the wielder’s damage scales with ATK. The special Stellar Glimmer damage increase applies only when that named reaction is triggered; it should not be treated as a general damage bonus. Off-field triggering helps a character whose abilities trigger reactions after switching away, provided the character actually triggers them.
How should you invest?
Ascension raises the weapon’s stats, with the listed material costs increasing across stages. Refinement requires a duplicate Emberwell and Mora. Each refinement adds four percentage points to both conditional bonuses, from 16% at R1 to 32% at R5. Refinement is most compelling if the weapon’s ATK or Stellar Glimmer effects are regularly active; otherwise, the duplicate cost may be better saved.
What alternatives serve different needs?
Absolution provides CRIT DMG and increases the wielder’s damage when their Bond of Life value increases, so its condition differs from Emberwell’s reaction trigger. Amenoma Kageuchi instead creates seeds after using an Elemental Skill and restores Energy after a Burst; it is an energy-return option. Aquila Favonia gives ATK and Physical DMG Bonus, with a heal and nearby damage effect when the wielder takes damage. These comparisons illustrate distinct stat and trigger profiles rather than guaranteed replacements.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The passive depends on triggering reactions; its buffs are not unconditional.
- The Stellar Glimmer bonus applies only to damage from that specific reaction.
- Refinement consumes duplicate copies for a larger conditional effect.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating the Stellar Glimmer damage increase as a general damage bonus.
- Assuming off-field activation means the effect triggers without the wielder actually triggering a reaction.
- Refining before checking whether the reaction-dependent bonuses will be active often enough to matter.
