Understand Eye of Perception
Useful when…
- A catalyst wielder who uses Normal or Charged Attacks and wants an additional damage proc.
- Fights with multiple opponents, where the bolt can bounce between targets.
How the bolt works
At Refinement 1, a Normal or Charged Attack has a 50% chance to fire a Bolt of Perception. It deals 240% of the wielder’s ATK as damage and can bounce between opponents up to four times. The effect can occur once every 12 seconds. Higher refinements increase the bolt’s damage to 360% and shorten its trigger interval to 8 seconds at Refinement 5; the listed 50% chance remains the same. The bounce behavior gives the passive more opportunity to hit additional opponents, but the weapon’s description does not promise a particular number of hits in every fight.
Who can make practical use of it
Its ATK secondary stat and attack-triggered passive favor a wielder whose damage or field time includes Normal and Charged Attacks. The bolt is additional damage rather than a team buff or energy effect. Against one opponent, there are no extra targets for it to bounce to; against groups, its stated bounce limit can make the proc more useful. A Thousand Floating Dreams instead offers Elemental Mastery and party-based elemental buffs, while Angelos’ Heptades requires the wielder to create a Shield for its listed damage and Energy effects. Those are different conditions and functions, not automatic replacements.
Investment and refinement
Weapon ascension raises the weapon through six stages; the supplied examples show material and Mora costs at stages 0–1, 3–4, and 5–6. Refinement consumes another Eye of Perception copy at each shown step, along with Mora. Refinement improves the bolt from 240% to 360% ATK and changes its interval from 12 to 8 seconds, while leaving its listed chance at 50%. Consider refining when improving this specific passive matters more to you than retaining another copy; ascension and refinement are separate investments.
Practical limitation
The passive depends on landing Normal or Charged Attacks, and its proc is limited by both a chance and a cooldown. Do not treat the bolt as a guaranteed hit on every attack or as a fixed multi-target result: it can bounce at most four times, and extra opponents are needed for those bounces to matter. Apprentice’s Notes is a 1-star Catalyst with lower Base ATK and no secondary stat or listed refinement passive, so it does not offer the same ATK-and-bolt package.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Its passive needs Normal or Charged Attacks to trigger and is limited by a 50% chance and cooldown.
- The bounce potential is less useful when only one opponent is present.
- Refinement requires consuming another copy of the weapon.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming every Normal or Charged Attack fires a bolt; the listed chance is 50%.
- Counting up to four bounces as guaranteed hits, especially when few opponents are present.
- Refining without accounting for the copy consumed at each refinement step.
