Understand Favonius Codex
Useful when…
- A catalyst wielder who values Energy Recharge and can land CRIT hits to trigger particles.
- A support-oriented or damage build where generating particles for the wielder is useful.
Particle effect and trigger limits
At Refinement 1, a CRIT hit has a 60% chance to generate a small amount of Elemental Particles, which regenerate 6 Energy for the character. The effect can occur once every 12 seconds. At Refinement 5, the chance is 100% and the interval is 6 seconds; the stated Energy restoration remains 6. The trigger still requires a CRIT hit, so the weapon does not guarantee particles merely by being equipped. Its Energy Recharge secondary stat is separate from this CRIT-triggered particle effect.
Practical use and comparisons
Consider Favonius Codex for a catalyst user who can land CRIT hits and wants both Energy Recharge and periodic Energy from generated particles. A Thousand Floating Dreams instead has Elemental Mastery and buffs based on the elemental types of other party members, including an Elemental Mastery bonus for nearby party members. Angelos’ Heptades has an ATK secondary stat and requires its wielder to create a Shield to gain its listed damage and Energy effects, with a separate chest trigger outside combat. These effects serve different conditions; neither comparison candidate provides the same stated CRIT-hit particle trigger.
Improving the weapon
Refinement raises the CRIT-hit chance and shortens the interval: from 60% and 12 seconds at Refinement 1 to 100% and 6 seconds at Refinement 5. The Energy restored per trigger remains 6 in the listed ranks. Each shown refinement step consumes another Favonius Codex copy and Mora. Ascension advances separately through six stages with its own listed materials and Mora. If more reliable or frequent passive triggers matter, refinement directly improves those two conditions; weigh that against spending copies that could be retained.
Avoid relying on particles without CRIT hits
The passive is conditional on a CRIT hit and then limited by its interval. A low chance at early refinement can also mean the effect does not trigger on a qualifying hit. Do not confuse the particle effect’s 6 Energy restoration with the Energy Recharge secondary stat, or assume that refining increases the Energy restored per trigger: the supplied values keep that amount at 6. Apprentice’s Notes has lower Base ATK and no secondary stat, and no listed refinement passive, so it does not reproduce Favonius Codex’s Energy-focused function.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The particle effect requires a CRIT hit and can fail its chance roll below Refinement 5.
- The effect has a cooldown, even when CRIT hits continue.
- Refinement uses another copy while leaving the stated Energy restoration at 6 per trigger.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting the passive to trigger without a CRIT hit.
- Assuming Refinement 5 restores more than 6 Energy per trigger; it raises chance and frequency, not the listed amount.
- Treating the particle effect and Energy Recharge secondary stat as the same effect.
