Understand Favonius Greatsword
Useful when…
- A claymore wielder who values Energy Recharge and can land CRIT hits.
- A build where periodic particle generation is useful alongside the weapon’s secondary stat.
What the passive does
At Refinement 1, CRIT hits have a 60% chance to generate a small amount of Elemental Particles, regenerating 6 Energy for the character. It can occur once every 12 seconds. Refinement raises the chance to 100% and shortens the interval to 6 seconds by Refinement 5; the listed Energy restoration remains 6. The passive requires a CRIT hit and remains subject to its interval, while Energy Recharge is the weapon’s separate secondary stat.
Use and relevant alternatives
This claymore is worth considering when the wielder’s Energy needs make its Energy Recharge and particle effect useful, and the character can land CRIT hits to activate the passive. Ultimate Overlord’s Mega Magic Sword is also a 4-star Claymore with Energy Recharge, but its listed effect increases ATK based on support from Melusines helped in Merusea Village. A Teaspoon of Transcendence has a CRIT DMG secondary stat and requires Charged Attack hits to boost Stellar-Conduct and Stellar Swirl reaction damage. A Thousand Blazing Suns grants CRIT DMG and ATK after Skill or Burst use and has additional Elemental Attack and Nightsoul’s Blessing conditions. Their distinct effects do not reproduce Favonius Greatsword’s CRIT-triggered particle generation.
Ascension and refinement tradeoffs
Refinement improves the chance of generating particles and reduces the time between possible triggers, but does not increase the listed 6 Energy restoration. The shown refinement steps require another Favonius Greatsword copy and Mora. Ascension is a separate six-stage progression with its own supplied material and Mora examples. Refining is directly relevant when improving the passive’s reliability and interval matters; retaining copies may matter more if you want multiple weapons. The inputs do not establish a universal priority between the tracks.
Keep the trigger conditions in view
Energy from the passive is not automatic: a CRIT hit must first occur, the chance can fail before Refinement 5, and the effect cannot occur again until its interval allows it. Do not count the passive as a guaranteed energy source on every hit. Ultimate Overlord’s Mega Magic Sword shares the Energy Recharge stat but has an ATK-focused passive tied to its stated Melusine-support condition, so the shared secondary stat alone does not make their effects interchangeable.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Particle generation requires a CRIT hit and has a chance-based trigger below Refinement 5.
- The effect is limited by a cooldown interval.
- Refinement consumes another copy and does not raise the listed 6 Energy per trigger.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Counting the particle effect as guaranteed without a CRIT hit.
- Assuming refinement raises the 6 Energy restoration instead of improving chance and interval.
- Treating another Energy Recharge claymore as equivalent solely because it shares the secondary stat.
