Understand Fillet Blade
Useful when…
- A low-rarity sword option for an ATK-oriented character.
- Occasional extra single-target damage when the passive triggers.
How does the extra hit work?
At refinement 1, a hit has a 50% chance to deal damage equal to 240% of ATK to one opponent, with the effect limited to once every 15 seconds. At refinement 5, the listed damage rises to 400% of ATK and the interval falls to 11 seconds. This is a separate chance-based effect, not a guaranteed hit each time the wielder attacks; it is also single-target rather than area damage.
Who might use it?
The sword’s ATK secondary stat and occasional hit make it a straightforward option when a sword user can benefit from ATK and no more tailored weapon is available. The passive does not require a specific Skill, Burst, or attack mode in the description, but its 50% chance and cooldown mean it should be treated as intermittent extra damage rather than a dependable rotation component.
What is worth upgrading?
Ascension advances the weapon through stages; the listed examples use Mist Veiled Elixir materials, Mist Grass materials, Treasure Hoarder Insignia materials, and Mora. Refinement improves the proc’s damage and shortens its cooldown, using duplicate Fillet Blade copies and Mora. Examples include one copy and 500 Mora for refinement 1 to 2, and one copy and 4,000 Mora for refinement 4 to 5. Refinement is a modest investment when the weapon remains in use, but the effect remains chance-based even at the highest stated rank.
How do other sword effects compare?
Amenoma Kageuchi grants Energy after a Skill-to-Burst sequence, while Festering Desire strengthens Elemental Skill damage and Skill CRIT Rate. Aquila Favonia provides ATK and Physical DMG Bonus, with a separate effect triggered by taking damage. Each has a different stat or trigger; none should be treated as a direct substitute solely because it is also a sword.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The extra hit has only a 50% trigger chance and can occur only once per stated cooldown.
- The passive deals damage to one opponent, so it does not supply area coverage.
- Its ATK stat and proc are general-purpose but less targeted than effects tied to a particular ability or condition.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating the 50% chance as a guaranteed extra hit.
- Expecting the proc to hit multiple opponents or trigger more often than its cooldown allows.
- Spending duplicate copies on refinement when another sword user could use the weapon.
