Understand Finale of the Deep
Useful when…
- ATK-oriented sword damage when the wielder uses an Elemental Skill regularly.
- Characters able to clear the weapon’s Bond of Life and benefit from its resulting flat ATK bonus.
What happens after using a Skill?
At refinement 1, using an Elemental Skill increases ATK by 12% for 15 seconds and grants a Bond of Life equal to 25% of Max HP. This can trigger once every 10 seconds. When that Bond is cleared, the weapon grants up to 150 ATK for 15 seconds, calculated at 2.4% of the total amount of the Life Bond cleared. At refinement 5, the Skill ATK bonus is 24% and the conversion is 4.8% of the cleared amount, up to 300 ATK. The Bond must actually be cleared for the additional ATK to activate.
When is the effect practical?
It fits an ATK-scaling sword user who can use an Elemental Skill and has a reliable way to clear the resulting Bond of Life. Its value is conditional: the opening ATK bonus is granted on Skill use, but the extra flat ATK depends on clearing the Bond. Plan around the once-per-10-second trigger rather than expecting repeated Bonds every time the Skill is used. The description does not specify which actions clear the Bond, so rely on the character or other effects’ stated mechanics rather than assuming a particular action will do so.
How should you invest?
Ascension raises the weapon through stages; the listed materials include Pure Sacred Dewdrop items, Tainted Water materials, Handguards, and Mora. Refinement improves the Skill ATK percentage and the ATK gained per amount of Bond cleared, as well as the maximum flat ATK. It uses duplicate copies and Mora; the examples show one copy and 1,000 Mora for refinement 1 to 2, and one copy and 8,000 Mora for 4 to 5. Refinement is most useful if the wielder can activate both parts of the effect consistently.
What alternatives offer different conditions?
Absolution provides CRIT DMG and increases the wielder’s DMG when the value of a Bond of Life is increased; it is not the same trigger as Finale’s Skill-granted Bond and clearing conversion. Amenoma Kageuchi instead returns Energy after Skill uses and a Burst. Aquila Favonia supplies ATK and Physical DMG Bonus, and its healing and area damage effect triggers on taking damage. These options address different stats and conditions, so compare their mechanics to the wielder rather than treating them as interchangeable sword upgrades.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The additional flat ATK requires clearing the Bond of Life; the description does not guarantee that every character can clear it quickly.
- The Skill trigger is limited to once every 10 seconds, and the bonuses have finite durations.
- Refinement requires duplicate copies, so the investment is most compelling for a wielder that can use both passive stages.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Counting the Bond-clearing ATK bonus before the Bond has been cleared.
- Assuming every Skill use can trigger the passive despite its 10-second limit.
- Confusing its Bond-clearing condition with Absolution’s separate condition of increasing Bond of Life value.
