Understand Flowing Purity
Useful when…
- Elemental damage for a catalyst user who uses an Elemental Skill and clears the resulting Bond of Life.
- A temporary all-elemental damage bonus that can benefit damage using any element.
What does the Skill trigger grant?
At refinement 1, using an Elemental Skill increases All Elemental DMG Bonus by 8% for 15 seconds and grants a Bond of Life equal to 24% of Max HP. The effect can trigger once every 10 seconds. When the Bond is cleared, every 1,000 HP cleared grants another 2% All Elemental DMG Bonus, up to 12%, for 15 seconds. At refinement 5, the initial bonus is 16%; every 1,000 HP cleared grants 4%, up to 24%. The additional bonus therefore depends on Bond-clearing amount and is capped.
When can a catalyst user benefit?
The weapon fits an elemental damage dealer who can use an Elemental Skill and clear the Bond of Life. It grants an initial bonus directly from Skill use, but the additional bonus is conditional; do not assume it reaches its cap unless enough Bond is cleared. Because the stated benefit is All Elemental DMG Bonus, it is not limited to the wielder’s matching element, though it still requires the wielder to deal elemental damage to use that bonus.
What does refinement improve?
Ascension advances the weapon through stages; listed materials include Pure Sacred Dewdrop items, Rift Core materials, Transoceanic materials, and Mora. Refinement raises the initial bonus and the extra bonus gained per 1,000 HP cleared, as well as the maximum additional bonus. It uses duplicate Flowing Purity copies and Mora; the examples show one copy and 1,000 Mora from refinement 1 to 2, and one copy and 8,000 Mora from 4 to 5. Refinement is most useful when the character can activate and clear the Bond often enough to benefit from the higher cap.
How do the catalyst comparisons differ?
A Thousand Floating Dreams gives Elemental Mastery or a matching-element damage bonus based on the other party members’ element types, and also grants nearby party members Elemental Mastery. Angelos’ Heptades activates after the wielder creates a shield, granting an ATK-based party damage increase and Energy restoration. Apprentice’s Notes is a one-star catalyst with no secondary stat and no listed refinement passive. These offer different conditional damage, support, or minimal-stat profiles; none automatically replaces Flowing Purity’s Skill and Bond-clearing mechanic.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The extra elemental damage bonus requires clearing the Bond of Life and is limited by a stated cap.
- The Skill effect can trigger only once every 10 seconds, and its bonuses last 15 seconds.
- Refinement improves Bond-dependent bonuses, so its gains depend on the wielder’s ability to clear the Bond.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Counting the Bond-clearing bonus before the Bond is actually cleared.
- Assuming each 1,000 HP cleared grants unlimited damage bonus rather than observing the refinement’s cap.
- Treating the initial Skill-triggered bonus and the Bond-clearing bonus as the same trigger.
