Hymn of the Maelstrom

Healing-triggered HP and active-character ATK support catalyst

Released Sep 23, 2026

Hymn of the Maelstrom is a 5-star catalyst with HP as its secondary stat. Healing grants Healing Bonus, increases the wielder’s Max HP, and buffs the active party member’s ATK based on the wielder’s HP above 40,000. It suits a catalyst wielder who heals and can build HP for this support effect.

Understand Hymn of the Maelstrom

Useful when…

  • Supporting the active party member’s ATK when the wielder performs healing.
  • Using its temporary boost to the effect’s Max HP and ATK increases when a nearby party member triggers Frozen or Stellar Swirl.

Healing-triggered effect

At refinement 1, the weapon grants 4% Healing Bonus. When the wielder performs healing, the effect increases their Max HP by 4% and increases the active party member’s ATK by 0.4% for every 1,000 Max HP above 40,000, up to 8% per stack. It lasts 10 seconds, can stack up to three times, and can trigger off-field.

HP and reaction conditions

The ATK increase is based only on Max HP above 40,000. When a nearby party member triggers Frozen or Stellar Swirl, the effect’s Max HP and ATK boosts are temporarily increased by 75% for 5 seconds; this is not a general party damage or ATK buff.

Refinement and progression

At refinement 5, Healing Bonus and the effect’s Max HP increase are 8%; ATK scaling is 0.8% per 1,000 Max HP above 40,000, up to 16% per stack, with up to three stacks. Refinement uses a sacrifice copy of Hymn of the Maelstrom and Mora. Ascension progresses through six stages.

How the catalyst alternatives differ

A Thousand Floating Dreams grants Elemental Mastery and elemental damage bonuses based on party members’ Elemental Types, and shares Elemental Mastery with nearby party members. Angelos’ Heptades requires the wielder to create a shield for its party damage and Energy effects. Apprentice’s Notes is a 1-star catalyst with no secondary stat listed. Their listed effects differ from Hymn’s healing-triggered, HP-based active-character ATK support.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • Its main support effect requires the wielder to perform healing; ATK scaling counts only Max HP above 40,000.
  • The reaction-triggered 75% increase applies temporarily to the effect’s Max HP and ATK boosts and lasts 5 seconds.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Expecting the healing-triggered effect without the wielder performing healing.
  • Counting HP at or below 40,000 toward the stated ATK scaling.
  • Treating the Frozen or Stellar Swirl trigger as a general 75% party buff or as permanent.
