Understand Kagotsurube Isshin
Useful when…
- ATK-focused sword builds that use Normal, Charged, or Plunging Attacks
- Combat against groups where Hewing Gale's area damage can hit nearby opponents
Hewing Gale trigger
A hit from a Normal, Charged, or Plunging Attack triggers Hewing Gale. It deals area damage equal to 180% of ATK and increases ATK by 15% for 8 seconds. The effect can trigger once every 8 seconds.
Attack pattern and stat fit
The ATK secondary stat and timed ATK increase suit characters whose damage benefits from ATK. The passive requires a hit from one of its listed attack types; a Skill or Burst cast alone is not a listed trigger.
Upgrade costs
Weapon ascension is listed from stage 0 through stage 6. Example costs are 5,000 Mora, 3 Masks of the Wicked Lieutenant, 3 Gloomy Statuettes, and 2 Spectral Husks for stages 0–1; 30,000 Mora, 3 Masks of the One-Horned, 12 Dark Statuettes, and 9 Spectral Hearts for stages 3–4; and 45,000 Mora, 4 Masks of the Kijin, 18 Deathly Statuettes, and 12 Spectral Nuclei for stages 5–6.
Related sword effects
Amenoma Kageuchi grants Succession Seeds after Elemental Skills and restores Energy after a Burst consumes them. Aquila Favonia has Physical DMG Bonus as its secondary stat and an effect that triggers when its wielder takes damage, restoring HP and damaging nearby opponents.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- Hewing Gale requires a hit from a Normal, Charged, or Plunging Attack.
- The effect can trigger only once every 8 seconds.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting every eligible hit to trigger Hewing Gale despite its 8-second interval.
- Assuming a Skill or Burst cast alone triggers the passive.
