Understand Mappa Mare
Useful when…
- Use on a catalyst user who triggers Elemental Reactions during combat.
- Consider it when Elemental Mastery and Elemental DMG Bonus both fit the character's damage.
Effects and timing
Triggering an Elemental Reaction grants an Elemental DMG Bonus for ten seconds, up to two stacks. At R1, each stack is 8%, for up to 16%; at R5, each is 16%, for up to 32%. Elemental Mastery is the weapon's secondary stat, separate from this reaction-triggered bonus.
How other catalysts differ
A Thousand Floating Dreams also has Elemental Mastery, but its buffs depend on the elemental types of other party members and it increases nearby teammates' Elemental Mastery. Angelos' Heptades has ATK and triggers party damage and energy effects after its wielder creates a shield. These effects have different stats and activation conditions from Mappa Mare's reaction-triggered bonus.
Ascension and refinement
The weapon has six ascension stages; listed examples give materials and Mora for selected transitions. Refinement consumes a Mappa Mare copy and Mora, increasing the bonus per stack. The two-stack cap and ten-second duration remain the same.
Stacks and attribution
A reaction trigger grants a stack, up to two, and each bonus lasts ten seconds. The effect description specifies triggering an Elemental Reaction but does not establish a stricter attribution rule. The maximum two stacks are not automatic; they require triggers.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The elemental damage bonus depends on reaction triggers and has a two-stack cap.
- It does not provide the party Elemental Mastery sharing described for A Thousand Floating Dreams.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming two stacks are present without reaction triggers.
- Assuming an attribution rule beyond what the effect description states.
