Understand Master Key
Useful when…
- Use when the wielder can cause Elemental Reactions and benefits from Elemental Mastery.
- Consider the stronger bonus when the stated Moonsign: Ascendant Gleam condition applies.
Trigger and bonuses
Causing an Elemental Reaction grants Elemental Mastery for 12 seconds, including when the wielder is off-field. At refinement 1 the regular bonus is 60; with Moonsign: Ascendant Gleam, the effect is further increased by 60. At refinement 5 the listed amounts are 120 and a further 120 under that condition. The weapon also has Energy Recharge as its secondary stat.
Using it and comparing alternatives
Its two useful aspects are Energy Recharge and reaction-triggered Elemental Mastery. Ultimate Overlord's Mega Magic Sword also has Energy Recharge but gives ATK, with an additional ATK increase tied to the number of Merusea Village Melusines helped. A Teaspoon of Transcendence requires Charged Attack hits and boosts named reaction damage; A Thousand Blazing Suns triggers from Skill or Burst use and has a Nightsoul's Blessing condition. Compare those triggers with the wielder's actual actions and party circumstances.
Improvement priorities
Ascension spans six stages; examples list selected transition costs. Refinement uses a duplicate Master Key and Mora, raising both the ordinary Elemental Mastery bonus and the additional amount under Ascendant Gleam. Refinement is more relevant when the wielder reliably triggers the passive and the extra Elemental Mastery supports the character's damage or utility.
Limitations and mistakes
The buff requires the equipped character to cause an Elemental Reaction, although the effect can trigger off-field. Do not assume merely being in a party where reactions occur is enough. The Ascendant Gleam text describes an additional increase; do not treat it as the regular bonus in every situation.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The Elemental Mastery effect requires a reaction caused by the wielder.
- Its larger conditional amount depends on Moonsign: Ascendant Gleam.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming reactions caused by teammates activate the passive for the wielder.
- Applying the Ascendant Gleam increase without meeting that condition.
