Understand Otherworldly Story
Useful when…
- A catalyst user who benefits from Energy Recharge.
- A character who can collect Elemental Orbs or Particles and make use of small HP recovery.
Pickup-based recovery
At R1, collecting an Elemental Energy Orb or Particle restores 1% HP. Refinement raises the recovery to 2% per collected Orb or Particle at R5. The effect is tied to picking up elemental energy, not to casting an Elemental Skill or Burst by itself.
Role and limits
The weapon’s secondary stat is Energy Recharge, while its passive restores HP in small increments as elemental energy is collected. It does not list a direct damage increase or a specific Energy restoration amount. It is therefore most relevant when those two utility effects suit the character’s needs.
Ascension and refinement
Ascension progresses through stage 6. Refinement consumes another copy and increases HP recovery per collected Orb or Particle from 1% to 2%. The incremental recovery is the only listed passive improvement, so refinement is a modest defensive investment; ascension is the separate weapon progression.
Alternative catalyst functions
A Thousand Floating Dreams gives party-based Elemental Mastery and elemental damage buffs, and grants nearby teammates Elemental Mastery. Angelos’ Heptades grants a damage bonus after shield creation and Energy restoration under its listed conditions. Apprentice’s Notes has no secondary stat or listed passive. These are distinct functions, rather than direct versions of Otherworldly Story’s pickup-based healing.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The HP recovery is small per pickup and depends on collecting elemental energy.
- No direct damage bonus or flat Energy restoration is listed.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Expecting HP recovery from an Orb or Particle that is not picked up.
- Treating the passive as an Energy restoration effect instead of HP recovery.
