Understand Rainslasher
Useful when…
- A claymore wielder who benefits from Elemental Mastery and attacks Hydro- or Electro-affected opponents.
- Combat where the weapon’s listed elemental status condition is maintained often enough to matter.
Effect and condition
Rainslasher has Elemental Mastery as its secondary stat. It increases damage against opponents affected by Hydro or Electro: 20% at R1 and 36% at R5. The condition is the opponent’s elemental status, not simply having a Hydro or Electro character in the party. The effect description does not limit the bonus to a particular attack type.
When to consider it
Consider Rainslasher when the wielder’s damage benefits from Elemental Mastery and the target is commonly affected by Hydro or Electro as the wielder hits it. Its conditional damage bonus can lose relevance if the required status is absent, so judge it by the actual combat pattern rather than the party’s character elements alone.
Investment and alternatives
Ascension advances the weapon through stages 0–6. Refinement raises the conditional damage bonus from 20% to 36% and requires another Rainslasher copy plus Mora. A Teaspoon of Transcendence is a 5-star comparison with CRIT DMG and ATK, but its additional reaction bonus specifically requires Charged Attack hits and names Stellar-Conduct and Stellar Swirl; those conditions do not make it a general substitute. The Ultimate Overlord's Mega Magic Sword instead has Energy Recharge and ATK increases, including a further increase based on Melusines helped in Merusea Village. These weapons support different stat needs and triggers.
Avoiding condition errors
Do not assume the bonus applies merely because an opponent was affected earlier; the listed condition is that the opponent is affected by Hydro or Electro. The input does not specify how long an applied status lasts, so check the target’s current status while using the weapon.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The damage bonus depends on the opponent being affected by Hydro or Electro.
- Elemental Mastery is useful only when it fits the wielder’s damage contribution.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming the bonus activates because a Hydro or Electro character is in the party.
- Overlooking that the opponent must be affected by one of the named elements.
