Understand Royal Greatsword
Useful when…
- Consider it when a claymore user wants ATK and can make repeated hits before a critical strike.
- Compare its stack-and-reset behavior with options that provide more direct ATK or Energy Recharge.
How its CRIT Rate effect works
On damaging an opponent, the weapon grants CRIT Rate, up to five stacks. At refinement rank 1, each stack adds 8%; at rank 5, each adds 16%. Any CRIT Hit removes all stacks, so the bonus rises during non-critical hits and disappears as soon as a hit crits. This makes its value variable rather than a stable CRIT Rate increase.
When to equip it
The weapon is a 4-star claymore with 43.7349 base ATK and an ATK secondary stat. Its conditional CRIT Rate may help a character whose attacks arrive in a sequence, but it does not guarantee a lasting high-CRIT state: a successful crit resets the buildup. Consider the full attack pattern and existing CRIT Rate before choosing it.
Investment and alternatives
Ascension advances through six stages. Refinement consumes another Royal Greatsword copy plus Mora; the supplied examples show 1,000 Mora for R1 to R2 and 8,000 Mora for R4 to R5. Refinement raises each stack from 8% to 16%, but the five-stack limit and full reset remain. The same-base-ATK 4-star Ultimate Overlord’s Mega Magic Sword offers Energy Recharge and an ATK increase instead. A Teaspoon of Transcendence is a 5-star claymore whose charged-attack condition specifically boosts Stellar-Conduct and Stellar Swirl reaction damage; A Thousand Blazing Suns has CRIT Rate as its secondary stat and a Skill-or-Burst-triggered effect. Those effects have different conditions and are not automatic replacements.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- CRIT Rate stacks are cleared by a CRIT Hit, making the gain inconsistent.
- Refinement requires duplicate copies and increases the per-stack bonus without changing the reset behavior.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming five stacks persist after a critical hit; any CRIT Hit removes them all.
- Refining it without accounting for the duplicate copy consumed and the unchanged reset condition.
