Understand Royal Grimoire
Useful when…
- Consider it for a catalyst user who repeatedly damages opponents and values ATK.
- Compare its conditional critical-rate pattern with reaction-focused or shield-triggered catalyst effects.
Stacks and reset
Each time the wielder damages an opponent, Royal Grimoire adds CRIT Rate, up to five stacks. Each stack is 8% at R1 and 16% at R5. A CRIT Hit removes all stacks, so the bonus is lost as soon as a hit crits. The effect therefore cycles between buildup and reset instead of providing a stable bonus.
Use and fit
This 4-star catalyst has 43.7349 base ATK and ATK as its secondary stat. It can be considered for a character whose damage comes from repeated hits, but evaluate the CRIT Rate already available: an early critical hit clears the buildup, and no separate effect in the supplied details preserves the stacks.
Improvement and comparisons
Weapon ascension runs from stage 0 through 6. Refinement requires a duplicate Royal Grimoire and Mora; the given examples list 1,000 Mora from R1 to R2 and 8,000 from R4 to R5. Refinement raises each stack’s CRIT Rate, but not the five-stack cap or reset rule. A Thousand Floating Dreams instead gains effects based on party members’ elemental types and grants nearby party members Elemental Mastery. Angelos’ Heptades requires the wielder to create a shield to activate its party damage bonus and Energy restoration. Apprentice’s Notes is a 1-star catalyst with no secondary stat in the supplied record. These comparisons have distinct conditions and should be weighed against the wielder’s actual role.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- The CRIT Rate effect is conditional and disappears on any CRIT Hit.
- Refinement consumes another copy while leaving the five-stack cap and reset rule unchanged.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Treating its maximum five stacks as a persistent bonus after a critical hit.
- Comparing it with party-buff or shield-triggered catalysts without checking whether their conditions are met.
