Understand Royal Longsword
Useful when…
- Consider it for a sword user who makes repeated attacks and can use the ramping CRIT Rate.
- Compare it with weapons that support burst energy, Bond of Life interactions, or physical damage.
Effect and condition
Damaging an opponent grants a CRIT Rate stack, up to five. Each stack is 8% at refinement 1 and 16% at refinement 5. When an attack scores a CRIT Hit, every stack is removed. The wielder must rebuild after each critical hit, so the maximum listed bonus does not behave like a permanent stat increase.
Practical fit
Royal Longsword is a 4-star sword with 42.401 base ATK and an ATK secondary stat. It is worth considering when the wielder can land repeated hits and the temporary CRIT Rate cycle fits their damage pattern. If a stable critical profile matters, account for how often crits clear the stacks rather than planning around five stacks being maintained.
Investment and alternatives
Ascension progresses through six stages. Refining the sword consumes a duplicate and Mora; the examples include 1,000 Mora for R1 to R2 and 8,000 for R4 to R5. Higher refinement strengthens each stack but does not change the cap or the critical-hit reset. Amenoma Kageuchi provides ATK and restores Energy after a Burst based on stored Skill-use seeds. Aquila Favonia provides Physical DMG Bonus and an ATK increase, with a separate effect triggered by taking damage. Absolution’s damage increase requires increasing a Bond of Life. These alternatives serve different conditions, so compare their actual effects with the wielder’s needs.
Limitations and tradeoffs
- A CRIT Hit clears the weapon’s accumulated CRIT Rate.
- Refinement uses duplicate swords to improve the stack size but leaves the effect’s behavior intact.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Planning around a permanent five-stack CRIT Rate bonus; a CRIT Hit resets it.
- Confusing the weapon’s conditional CRIT Rate with a direct increase to damage or Burst energy.
