Sacrificial Sword

An Energy Recharge sword that can reset its wielder’s Elemental Skill cooldown after a damaging Skill hit.

Released Sep 28, 2020

Sacrificial Sword combines Energy Recharge with a chance to end the wielder’s Elemental Skill cooldown after Skill damage. Consider it when the character’s Skill hits opponents and another use is valuable. The reset is not guaranteed, and its separate cooldown limits how frequently the effect can trigger.

Understand Sacrificial Sword

Useful when…

  • Consider it for a sword user who benefits from Energy Recharge and can land damaging Skill hits.
  • Refinement improves the chance of a reset and reduces the effect’s cooldown restriction.

Trigger and reset chance

After an Elemental Skill damages an opponent, the Skill has a chance to end its own cooldown. The chance rises from 40% at R1 to 80% at R5. The effect’s separate cooldown falls from 30 seconds to 16 seconds across those ranks. A Skill use without a hit does not satisfy the trigger condition.

Practical fit

Sacrificial Sword is a 4-star weapon with 41.0671 base ATK and Energy Recharge as its secondary stat. It can be useful when another Skill use supports the wielder’s role and the Skill can connect with an opponent. Its chance-based passive should not be treated as a guaranteed reset, even when the hit condition is met.

Investment and comparisons

Ascension advances through six stages. Refinement consumes a duplicate Sacrificial Sword and Mora; the given examples show 1,000 Mora from R1 to R2 and 8,000 from R4 to R5. Higher refinement improves the reset odds and shortens the effect cooldown. Amenoma Kageuchi instead accumulates seeds from Skill casts and restores Energy after a Burst consumes them. Aquila Favonia grants Physical DMG Bonus and has an effect triggered by taking damage. Absolution’s bonus damage requires increasing a Bond of Life. These are different benefits and do not provide the Sacrificial Sword cooldown reset.

Limitations and tradeoffs

  • The cooldown reset requires a Skill hit and has a chance to fail.
  • A separate effect cooldown limits reset frequency, even if Skills hit repeatedly.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Expecting the reset from a Skill cast that does not damage an opponent.
  • Assuming the effect’s 30-to-16-second restriction is the Skill’s own cooldown.
